(not best work)
Of all people why did I have to encounter her.
"Hello Wren what brings you to the mall on this beautiful Saturday" I said trying to not sound annoyed. She didn't say anything her eyes still on me.
"Belinda I told you to go get your father" an older woman exclaimed. I turned to her only now noticing that she wasn't alone. Wren blinked her eyes as if realising it too.
"Why don't you just call him it would be way easier" Wren gritted out in annoyance while I on the other hand was shocked at my new discovery.
"Your name is 'Belinda' "I made sure to emphasize her name as a snicker of laughter left my lips.
The older woman turned to me in interest I had only noticed how similar she looked to Wr-Belinda only that she was a bit mature and looked more put together with her white dress and jellied hair. A contrast to Belinda who was wearing all pink. Pink palazzo pants a pink tee shirt and opened jersey as well as a headband... all pink.
"Who might you be young man?" the woman questioned and unlike her daughter she didn't look at me in disgust of my poverty maybe because I looked like I had money because of the amount of things in the trolley.
"Ca-"
"My camera boy at school" Belinda cut me off before adding "Mother let's go" rolling her eyes Belinda pulled her mother along with her. Standing at the entrance she turned to me.
"Oh and the next time you think of leaving before giving me my camera time will be the last time you breath.Dont even think of telling people about the name Belinda" she said a dark glint in her eyes, huffing she continued leaving the shop.
I shivered as I remembered the glint in her eyes when she told me it would be the last time I breathed.
Again because of Belinda I made sure to emphasize the name in my head every time I said it for some reason it made me feel better, but nevertheless I still lost all motivation to continue shopping.
Buying what I needed I returned to the car and found Esme already waiting for me. After helping me load the car she drove me back to the flat.
After entering the flat with all the things I bought I began putting everything in order. The cabinet was a distance away from my makeshift bed. I put all the kitchen utensils including plates and cups inside it. The pots were still kept in their boxes.
Entering the bathroom I began washing my now soaked clothing which was way easier then expected. I guess soaking clothing does help.
After leaving the bathroom I began cleaning the somewhat messy room and put all the things in order. Looking at my worn out bag I couldn't help but think I should have brought a new one which in turn reminded me of why I gave up in the first place.
Choosing to forget I returned back to the bathroom and tool the washed clothing out of the bathroom and put them in the bucket I had bought.
Taking the washed clothing outside to dry I was grateful for the bright hot sun. On my way there I encountered a few of my neighbours which I greeted before returning back to me flat.
I went through my bag and took out a sign up sheet that had all the subjects in the school and the letter stated that I was only allowed to choose seven.
Except that English FAL, Chinese Home, Physical education and Mathematics were compulsory.
Looking through the sheet I chose the last five
Accounting
Economics
Business studies
Computer science
Korean second additional
Sighing I couldn't help but think of the days ahead me regarding school, notwithstanding how tired I already was from the activities I did today.
"ho-hum" I rubbed my eyes as I yawn left my lips. I was too tired. How do less privileged people do this. Looking at the time I realised that it was still nine and I still had enough time to sleep.
Letting sleep take over I closed my eyes only to wake up at six in the evening and rushing outside to collect my clothing.
"Why is it wet..." my hands moved through all my clothing as I took them off the dryer behind the flat house.
"It's because of the dew" jumping in fright I turned to the voice after calming down my heart and low and behold it was John. He was sitting on the ground one of his legs crossed on the other as he lifted the cigarette from his lips his eyes a sea of mist.
"What are you doing here...and what do you mean by dew...?" I managed to say.
"I live here and dew is what wets the earth or something like that just don't leave your clothes until four in the evening" he said in an undertone manner.
Nodding at him a bit dazed I made sure to remember what he said and looked at my white shirts a thought came to my head.
"Why haven't I seen you around?" I had been here for a week and yet this is the first time I'm seeing John in the flat.
Turning to me he took a long drag from his cigarette causing a frown to appear on my face "You need an iron" he stated in a manner as if asking a question.
"Excuse me..." I murmured a bit confused at his question. He sent a nod to my uniform. My eyes widened in realisation that I hadn't gotten an iron. The one I used before belonged to the Liao's.
After a long silence I finally said "Yes if you don't mind"
After I put all the clothing in my room I turned to go get the iron only to find it outside my flat with a small note.
'You're welcome' in handwriting that could make even that of doctors beautiful and easy to read.
Another thought appeared in my head he didn't answer my question.
