The Battle

"…I'm Batman," I let out a squeal at that line. Clark looked at me strangely, but I couldn't help it!

"Welcome to the team, Batman!" I exclaimed with excitement. "Glad to have you!"

Batman gave me a strange look before continuing, "Your announced timeframe is coming up in a few minutes, so let's get started. You, reporter, it's time for you to leave." Batman pointed at Catherine and gestured towards the door for her to leave. I thought it was funny that he had just arrived and was telling someone who had been here the whole time to leave, but he was right, though.

…Wait! Has Batman been here the whole time? Just watching us from the shadows silently? That seems like something he would do…

"Excuse me!" Catherine said indignantly. "I have a right to be here. The people need to know-"

"Cat," I interrupted her. "It's time for you to go. There could be a fight near here very soon. You need to tell everyone else downstairs to clear out of the city as well."

"Fine," she relented before she and her cameraman headed for the door. We all watched her leave before Batman spoke again.

"So, what's the plan?"

Wonder Woman enthusiastically spoke up. "The plan is to drive them off by any means necessary!" She cheered while brandishing her sword to the sky. I liked her energy there, but I could tell from Batman's glare that he was not down with basically no plan.

"If I may," Superman turned to me, and I nodded. "From Supergirl's information, we estimate there to be around 10 Kryptonians on board that ship," he explained to all the heroes on the roof.

"That's not so bad," The Flash spoke up. "I was expecting a small army. We can totally handle those numbers easily." I grimaced; if only it would be that easy.

"Flash… Superman and I are Kryptonians," I said, to the shock of everyone present except Rose Knight. Wonder Woman and Flash looked completely stunned from hearing that, while Batman just gave Clark and me a glare.

"The alien called Calal that Zod claimed he was looking for. It was one of you two?" He confronted us. I did feel slightly ashamed for hiding it from the world. Although they never asked, now that I think about it…

"It's Kal-El actually, and that would be me," Superman said defensively.

"Really?" Flash asked. "You were an alien the whole time, Supergirl? Why would you hide it? Were you afraid the government would try to dissect you or something?" He asked that last part jokingly. If only he knew that there were government labs like Cadmus out there that wouldn't hesitate to dissect me, clone me, and then dissect the clone just for good measure…

"It was partially that," I admitted to them. "And to be fair, surprisingly, no one has ever even accused me of being an alien. Although I guess most of the world didn't even know aliens were a thing until yesterday…"

"It's still a lie by omission," Batman grumbled.

Wonder Woman came up to me and put her hand on my shoulder. "Whether you are human or something else does not matter to me or the Amazons, sister. We would still respect you either way," she said, and I could tell she meant it. Rose Knight, who had been mostly quiet so far, also spoke up in my defense.

Batman gave one last glare before tabling the topic. "Fine," he said, "but if we're facing that many enemies as powerful as you two, how are we going to win?" He asked. Of course he wouldn't leave just because the going got a bit tough. I knew he would never back down. That's not who Batman was. But I could tell from the minor fluctuations in his voice, he was a bit nervous about the upcoming challenge.

"Superman, give the Kryptonite to Batman and Rose Knight," I said, and Superman pulled out a small lead box he had been keeping… somewhere. He handed the box to Batman, who examined it cautiously. He looked hesitant to open it.

"What's in here?" He asked.

"It's called Kryptonite. Inside are two small pieces. When that gets near a Kryptonian, they will be severely weakened and vulnerable. Please don't open that box near us, though," I explained to Batman, who just raised a curious eyebrow at the existence of such a thing.

"Fine," he said, taking the box. "I'll open it and give the other piece to Rose Knight once you two are clear."

It was time.

Superman and I flew up towards the Kryptonian ship while the others waited below.

"Here we go," Clark said to himself. I just nodded as we reached within a hundred meters of the ship. "ZOD! SHOW YOURSELF!" He bellowed loudly next to me. The air rippled around us from how loud that shout was! I covered my ears with my hands, but they were still ringing a bit. No way Zod didn't hear that…

The two of us floated there in silence for a few moments before the ship started to move. A massive hatch on the side facing us slowly opened, revealing six Kryptonians. That was honestly less than I thought there'd be! Every single one of them was wearing one of those black Kryptonian war suits. That was good and bad. In those warsuits, they were strong but not even close to as strong as they'd be under a yellow sun. But the second we destroyed a suit, they wouldn't be cut off from the sun anymore, and we'd have to finish them fast before they adapted.

The leader, who I assumed to be Zod, spoke out. His troops looked like they immediately wanted to attack and seize Kal-El, but he waved them off for now. "There you are, Kal-El. I was starting to think you wouldn't show. That would have been… unpleasant for the people of this world." Zod then turned to me. "And Kara Zor-El, look at you all grown up. I haven't seen you since you were a young girl. Are you two here to join us and see reason?" Zod asked with a grin.

"And what would that entail? And no lies, Zod. Kara has told me all about your ways. I demand you tell us what it is you are really after here!" Superman declared next to me. It was time to see just how crazy this version of Zod was, I guess...

In his warsuit, Zod just let out a bellowing laugh. "Look at you, a big man flying all on his own under the yellow sun, thinking you can order me... MEEEE! I AM ZOD! NO ONE COMMANDS ME!" His tone changed, and he shouted angrily. "You want to know my plans!? Fine! I'm going to rip that codex from your flesh, Kal-El, and then I'm going to bury this world, and from its ashes shall arise the next Krypton!" He was actually panting within his suit from how much he worked himself up there. This guy had some anger issues…

I turned to Superman and gave him a deadpan stare that basically said, 'I told you so!'

"I see there will be no peaceful discussion," he said a bit dejectedly. "So be it." We stuck to our plan at this point. Clark, being the physically stronger of us currently, would rip that ship apart while I would run interference.

The two of us rocketed forward at our max speeds. I was on the group of Kryptonians far faster than they had expected as I threw an uppercut right into Zod's torso. He was lifted off the floor, and I grabbed onto both of his feet. With a twirl and a heave, I spun him around and threw him right off his own ship! His body was ragdolling through the air, where he would crash towards the outskirts of Metropolis. I could hear him screaming and cursing me as he fell. Hopefully, the other heroes could deal with him for now...

I was honestly surprised at how easy it was to catch him off guard. That wasn't so bad! Maybe I could actually take these guys, no pro-

-A metal fist slammed right into my face, and I stumbled a couple of feet. Ow... that hurt. Not a lot, but still. Pain was something I hadn't experienced at all in my new life so far!

"You bitch! You'll pay for that!" A dark-haired woman who I suspected might be Faora was the one who punched me. "Get her!" Five of the Kryptonians all dove at me at once! I dodged underneath the first one while simultaneously landing a kick that sent them flying back. The next one yanked me back by my cape as Faora ran up and delivered another vicious punch to my stomach. I actually gagged a bit as I felt my air leave me. I glared at her as I threw out a clumsy kick. Another man grabbed my leg before it could reach her as he lifted me up and slammed me straight into the floor, leaving an indent of me in metal.

...I might be in trouble here... Anytime now, Clark!

RUMBLE CRASH

...Good timing!

Everything around us started violently shaking! I ripped my leg loose from the guy before I kicked him in the face as payback and sent him flying right into the wall! I think I actually managed to knock him out with that lucky hit. The four remaining Kryptonians were stumbling to maintain balance as the ship around us started shaking incredibly violently. Faora screamed profanities at me the whole time for harming another one of their small group. The ship started shaking harder, and I could hear explosions rocking out all around us as the lights flickered in and out.

"What the hell is happening!" Faora screamed.

Alarms all around us started blaring loudly. A robotic voice sounded out over the alarms, "WARNING! WARNING! VESSEL HAS RECEIVED MASSIVE STRUCTURAL DAMAGE. IMMEDIATE EVACUATION IS RECOMMENDED. WARNING-"

"Ha!" I laughed, "Kal-El is ripping this ship apart from the outside. Your plans are over!" I flipped them all the bird because, honestly, fuck these guys. They probably didn't understand the gesture, though, considering it was a human thing.

Faora gave me a glare that promised pain and death as she charged at me, despite stumbling a bit. This ship was going down for sure. Clark had done some quick work there. It was time for me to get the hell off this thing as well. I spun around and flew towards the open sky, but before I reached it, I felt something yank me back by my cape once again!

"No, you don't, bitch!" Faora screamed at me. "You will bleed for destroying Krypton's last hope! Close the hatch!" She screamed. "If we're going down, then she's going down with us!" There was an absolutely insane look in her eye as she declared that. The ship was shaking even more violently now. I needed to get out fast! I tried to kick her off me, but Faora latched her suit's arms around me tightly, trying to pin me in! With a heave, I started prying the alien metal loose from around me!

"WARNING! HANGAR DOORS CLOSING. STAND CLEAR."

I glanced to my left and saw one of the remaining Kryptonians had just flipped a nearby lever on the wall. The hatch started closing rapidly! I needed to get out now!

With a final heave, I finally pried Faora's arms off me before I sent a punch at her face that sent her reeling back, crashing into the wall. I spun around and flew as fast as I could to escape the ship. Out of nowhere, something slammed onto my back, and I was flung to the floor. The hatch fully closed.

"Computer, re-enable Kryptonian atmosphere. Let's see how this bitch fares without her yellow sun powers!" Faora screamed now that the hangar doors were sealed.

"KRYPTONIAN ATMOSPHERE ENABLED."

I heard a hissing of air and gases as I could feel the Earth's air being vented out of the hangar, and different air started to be pumped in! With the first breath I took, I immediately started to feel weaker! This was Kryptonian air? It absolutely sucked! Why would they ever choose to breathe this?

What had slammed me into the floor was another soldier. He was standing on my back now and had me pinned down. No matter how much strength I tried to use, I couldn't move him off me! Just a few breaths of this air, and I had gotten a lot weaker. I could feel myself growing weaker still...

"Not so tough now, are you, bitch?" A metal boot slammed into my face, and I felt pain like I hadn't felt since I first crash-landed in this world. My vision blurred, and my ears were ringing from that hit. I felt something trickle down my face, and it fell to the floor in drops. It was blood! She had made me bleed from one hit! Were all my powers gone already?

The few other Kryptonians gathered around us in their warsuits as the ship's rocking intensified. They just sneered at me as I was held down on the ground by one of their own. I felt Faora shakily grab onto my hair and yank my head up so I was looking at her eye to eye. "Any last words before you die, traitor?"

"WARNING! WARNING! THIS VESSEL IS GOING DOWN! WARNING! WARNING!"

I didn't know whether to sigh in relief or resignation as the artificial gravity on the ship completely cut out... and we plummeted. The guy holding onto me, along with Faora and everyone else, all went slamming into the hangar ceiling as the ship we were in started rapidly plummeting towards the ground. This atmosphere had me currently as powerless as a regular person, so I'd probably be dead on imp-

CREAK-SCREECH

"Kara, I've got you!" I felt a rush of air after hearing a metal tearing sound. Someone gently grabbed onto me as the ship plummeted...

...

CRASH! BOOM!

I think I blacked out for a second there. I opened my eyes and took a breath of some beautiful Earth air. I could also feel the amazing sun shining on my skin.

"That was a close one there. I'm sorry I took so long." I glanced up and saw Clark's smiling face looking down at me. We were floating in the air, and he was holding me in his arms.

"Thanks for the save there," I said as I slipped out of his hold and hovered myself. I looked down at the crash site. That was one hell of an explosion. That ship had been the size of a skyscraper and had left a massive flaming crater. Good thing he apparently steered the crash away from Metropolis, or there might not even have been a city for people to come back to after this was all over.

"We should go rejoin the others and see what happened," Superman said.

-The Other Heroes-

A few moments earlier before the ship crash...

Kara and Superman had flown up to the alien ship to try and negotiate, not that Rosalie thought that would work. Meanwhile, the rest of them had relocated miles outside the city. If Superman had to destroy the ship, he would drop it down somewhere around here. 'Preferably not on top of their heads, though,' Rosalie thought.

"So, Rose Knight, Flash was next to her, trying to make small talk. "I like your costume. It gives off some mysterious vibes by having everything covered."

"Thank you," she said curtly. "...my sister made it for me." She added as an afterthought.

"How wonderful!" Wonder Woman exclaimed. "My sisters made me this sword and shield as well!"

"That's cool," Flash said to her, and Rosalie nodded from behind her cowl. "So who made your armor? Looks very high quality."

"My father Zeus made it for me!" She said proudly.

"Wait, what?"

"Quiet down, there's something going on up there." Batman was standing on top of his tank. The man apparently had brought his own personal bat-themed tank, much to the other heroes' surprise. He had a pair of high-tech binoculars and was observing the supposed negotiations between Supergirl and the aliens. "Negotiations did not go well," Batman muttered. Rosalie clenched her fist hearing that. She knew a fight was incoming for sure now.

"How do you figure that?" Flash asked from the side. Wonder Woman was also curious about what had happened.

"Supergirl just sent one of the aliens flying out of the ship... he's coming right towards us." Batman said as he followed the trajectory of the alien coming in hot with his binoculars.

"Damn you, Kara Zor-El!" Rosalie's vampire hearing heard the alien scream her friend's name as it crashed down into the ground near them.

BOOM!

"And there's our first opponent!" Wonder Woman said excitedly as she drew her sword and shield. She promptly took off towards where he had crashed into the ground nearby. The others followed, with Batman hopping into his tank.

Rosalie arrived shortly after Flash, and they saw Wonder Woman already engaged in combat. They were both surprised that their opponent was in some kind of super-strong robot armor. Wonder Woman didn't seem to care, though, as she hacked away at the steel frame. "I am Diana, Princess of the Amazons. Who are you, fiend?" She declared as she delivered another slash with her sword that the man inside the armor blocked with his arms. Her sword managed to make a small cut in the man's armor, much to his surprise.

"I am Zod! Krypton's greatest general, and you will all kneel before me!" He screamed out.

"Holy shit," Flash said next to her, "Supergirl threw the leader himself. Can you use that green rock on him yet?" Flash asked Rose Knight. She shook her head and said no, not until he was out of that armor.

"Have at thee!" They watched as Wonder Woman was absolutely cutting the hell out of the man's armor every time they engaged each other. Zod was screaming some expletives at her the whole time in panic.

Batman's tank pulled up beside them as he exited the vehicle and watched the fight. "I thought this would be harder, to be honest. Wonder Woman seems to have the man handle though."

"Dude, why did you have to say that!" Flash said, upset. "Everyone knows you don't tempt fate like that!" Rosalie wasn't usually one for superstition, but she did agree slightly.

WHOOSH

They all heard a loud rumble above them as the giant Kryptonian spaceship had just been knocked from its position and was barreling towards the ground — right towards them!

"Oh shit, see that's why you don't tempt fate. WONDER WOMAN, RUN! The ship is coming down!" Flash yelled as he made to get out of the way. Wonder Woman, who was immensely enjoying her current battle and putting this arrogant man in his place, looked up when she heard Flash yell out. Her eyes widened in panic, and she immediately disengaged and ran away!

Zod didn't flee, though. He just looked up at the ship with a resigned look on his face as it came down right on top of him.

A moment later, the ship smashed down.

BOOOOOOOOOMMMMM!!!

-Supergirl's POV-

Superman and I landed outside the flaming wreckage, and we saw the other heroes staring at the blaze. They all looked to be fine, with only Wonder Woman looking slightly disheveled.

"Hi, everyone," I gave them a wave. Was it over? Where was Zod?

"What happened to Zod?" Superman asked.

"He was under the ship when it crashed down," Batman answered. "I didn't expect it to end that way. It was almost..."

"Don't say it!" Flash yelled out.

"...Too easy?" Batman finished.

"Damn it! He said it! You really went and did it again there, Bats, didn't you..." I was surprised that Rose Knight appeared to be agreeing with Flash as she nodded her head at what she said. I wondered what I had missed? I'd have to ask her later.

CREEEEEAAAAAAKKK!

We all turned as we heard the sound of wrenching coming from within the burning wreckage. Uh oh...that didn't sound good. A loud crash rang out again from the crater as large sections of metal wreckage were literally flung away, and four figures slowly emerged from within the flaming debris field. None of them were wearing those Warsuits anymore.

"I thought that it was truly all over for me once I saw my ship coming down, but now...now I know my destiny to restore Krypton isn't done just yet." Zod said as he appeared with Faora and two other Kryptonian soldiers next to him. All of them glaring at us with hatred.

I noticed Batman hop right back into his tank with urgency. A second later, the thing powered up before a missile fired right out towards the group of four. Zod just sneered as he casually slapped it to the side, where it veered around them and exploded.

I heard Flash audibly gulp next to me. If Rosalie needed to breathe, she probably would have as well.

"Let's see how tough you are now that we're evenly matched!" Faora screamed before she was on me in a nanosecond, her fist raised to punch me. Surprisingly, though, Flash was even faster as he was right next to her, delivering his own punch right into her face. I'm proud he didn't even hesitate to hit a woman. Hell yeah for gender equality!

Unfortunately, his lightning-fast punch barely did anything as Faora's head barely turned to the side from that hit. "That was cute," she said to him before she backhanded him and sent him flying away.

BOOM!

I looked to the side and saw Zod and Superman clashing hard in a slugfest. Superman delivered a heavy punch to Zod's face that left the air around them rippling. Zod took a few steps back before he sneered and delivered a powerful body blow that had the man of steel wheezing as he was sent rocketing across the landscape! Zod took off into the air to follow him!

BAM!

"OW!" My head reeled to the side as I just got sucker-punched by the woman I stupidly looked away from! That's it! She was going down!

I charged at Faora as I opened up on her with my heat vision, and a wave of fire washed over her. She looked shocked right before the twin lasers slammed into her and blasted her away.

As I took off towards where she landed, I glanced to the side and saw that Rose Knight was fighting one of the soldiers. She was holding the Kryptonite in one hand as she pummeled him with the other! The Flash was busy running circles around the other Kryptonian soldier as Batman was wailing on him with his tank. All it seemed to be doing was pissing the man off, though…

Faora with her burns visibly healing. Scowled as she got back up and flew towards me furiously. She was intercepted midway though as I got some backup!

"Have at thee nwoman!" Wonder woman flew towards Faora with her sword swinging fast. Faora simply raised her hand and caught the edge with her palm. She surprisingly hissed in pain though as her hand started bleeding slightly. Wonder woman's blade was magically enchanted so it could even make a kryptonian bleed lightly, if a blow was delivered with enough force. Wonder Woman's eyes widened in surprise at seeing Faora catch her blade.

Faora hissed slightly in pain from the cut before she delivered a devastating punch with her other hand to Wonder Woman's temple that sent her flying towards Rosalie's fight!

"You bitch!" I screamed before bum rushing the woman. I returned the favor by landing my own sucker punch across her face. She cursed at me slightly disoriented before I grabbed hold of her and with a spin sent her flying away well over a mile. I saw dust and dirt blast into the air where she cratered. I knew she'd be back soon though.

In the meantime I rushed down to where Wonder Woman had landed. "Are you alright!?" I said to the princess as she was clutching her bleeding head.

"I will be fine in a moment. The durability of you Kryptonians simply caught me off guard."

"What is that evil green rock woman!" Wonder Woman and I looked to the side and saw Rosalie was winning her fight against her alien foe pretty thoroughly. He looked to be incredibly woozy and weakened as he sent sluggish punches towards her which she simply sidestepped before delivering her own strong hits in return. I wanted to help, but couldn't risk getting any closer while she was holding that kryptonite. It looked like she was going to win soon against him though.

"At least one of us is faring well so far." Wonder Woman commented.

"..."

"Ow that laser is really hot! Help dammit– someone help!" I turned to another fight scene where the Flash was doing his best to evade the other Krytonian soldier as he tried to blast the speedster with heat vision. Batman's tank kept unloading bullets onto the man, but he was fully ignoring them at this point…

I was about to step in when Wonder Woman put her hand on my shoulder and stopped me. "I will help the two men, sister. You have your own fight to deal with, she said as she pointed off to the side. I guess Faora was back for round three already. I turned to face her and–

"Oh shit!" I exclaimed as I dodged to the side as a tractor just whizzed by my face at almost the speed of sound. Where did she find a tractor!? I looked down at an angry and still slightly burned Faora, who was glaring at me even more. If only looks could kill...oh right, she's a Kryptonian. And looks clearly could kill with us, as her own eyes started glowing red!

Oh crap!

I zipped out of the way and started zigzagging across the sky as she chased after me, trying to blast me with her own heat vision.

I unfortunately wasn't fast enough as a laser clipped me in the shoulder and caused me to spin wildly in the air. As I hissed to myself from the burning, I felt Faora latch onto my leg. She started rapidly spinning us around like an out-of-control windmill before I was released and sent flying rapidly.

CRASH!-CRASH!-CRASH!

I felt my body slam into something hard that felt like stone before it gave way, and I continued on crashing through more of the same thing. The momentum sent me clear through all the obstacles before I eventually bled off enough to stop myself. When I looked up at what I hit, I gaped in shock. She just threw me all the way to Metropolis! And I just crashed through an entire skyscraper! -- A skyscraper that was now slowly tipping over. I think all those hard things I crashed through were its foundation support beams...

I watched as the building slowly tipped over and crashed into...another building. That was going to be an expensive fix...at least I'm glad the city was evacuated at this point.

I heard the whistling of air as a large object hurtled towards me. My eyes once again widened as this time it was Batman's tank that was flying my way. I spread my arms wide and braced myself for the collision as the car slammed into me mid-air and sent me hurtling backwards. It didn't exactly hurt, but it wasn't pleasant either. I slowed us down enough until I could stop us and lowered the tank to the ground. With a pressurized hiss, the car roof hatch slid open, and Batman stumbled out. There was some blood on his lips, and I used my X-ray vision to see if he was okay. He had some major bruising, but for the most part, he seemed fine.

"What the hell happened?" he said groggily.

"That guy over there just threw you all the way to Metropolis," I said, pointing to the Kryptonian soldier who was now floating next to Faora as they were both slowly coming towards us. They could zip over to us in an instant, so they were clearly trying to be dramatic about it...

"How are things over there going?" I asked Batman. "You know, before that guy tossed your tank like it was a shotput. I thought Wonder Woman was helping you and Flash?"

"She was until Zod came back with and started helping that soldier. Wonder Woman is currently teaming up with Superman fighting him. Rose Knight defeated her opponent so she and Flash should be aiding them soon." He explained as our two enemies were almost on us.

"Batman, when they get close, pull it out," I said to him, not caring if they could hear or not.

"Won't that affect you too?" He asked with some mild concern for my well-being.

"I'll at least be ready for it," I said, and he nodded.

Faora flew right at me, reeling her fist back. "Whatever it is, it won't help you," she screamed... Oh yes, it would. Batman opened a latch on his utility belt and pulled out his piece of Kryptonite. I immediately felt like gagging as I felt all my strength leave me! Faora and the other Kryptonian fell out of the air and slammed hard into the ground.

Oh my god, this is the sickest I've ever felt in both my lives! Kryptonite sucks so hard! The only reason I was even standing still was that I had mentally braced for it.

"W-what is this!?" Faora spat out as she struggled to stand up, the soldier next to her doing the same.

I shakily raised my boot right over her face, the same thing she did to me earlier. "Welcome to Earth!" I said as I kicked her hard in the face and her body went limp.

Batman also punched the other Kryptonian into unconsciousness "I should have just used this from the start." I heard him mutter to himself… He should have, the guy clearly didn't trust it would work though until he saw Rose Knight succeed with it. This man has trust issues… Batman turned to me and gave me a strangely intense stare. Why was he looking at me like that!?

"W-what!?" I asked with a small blush. His staring was intense!

"Did you just seriously quote Independence Day when you kicked an alien in the face?" He deadpanned at me… Oh–Yes, yes I did. It was pretty awesome!

"..."

To my relief, Batman put the Kryptonite away as he made his way back to his tank. "Let's go," he said, "we don't know if Zod is down yet!"

I nodded as I picked up the two unconscious Kryptonians and hung them over my shoulders before flying back towards the crash site.

...

"Let her go, you bastard!" I screamed as I flung the two off of me and glared towards Zod. He had Rose Knight in a chokehold and she couldn't get free!

"I was waiting for you, Supergirl!" He said with a disgusting sneer, tightening his grip on her. I could hear her diamond skin cracking from the strain.

"You've lost, Zod!" Wonder Woman said from the side, next to Superman and Flash. Both looked hesitant to make a move on him while he had a hostage. "Surrender now!" She added.

"What happened to the other piece of Kryptonite!?" I asked in panic.

"Zod destroyed it from afar with heat vision after Rose Knight used it to beat one of his soldiers, then he grabbed her and took her hostage!" Superman replied.

"I will not be surrendering!" Zod madly declared. "Zod does not surrender!"

"Fuck you!" Rosalie spat from within his chokehold. He just gripped her tighter, and now I heard loud cracks as she cried out in pain!

"You took everything from me," Zod declared. "So, I will take this from you at least!" All our eyes widened as he ripped Rose's head right off her body! He casually tossed it and her torso to the side with a laugh.

I SAW RED!

With strength and speed I had never known I even had, I was immediately on him in a screaming rage as I slammed punch after punch into his still laughing face.

"It hurts, doesn't it, Kara?" he taunted me, his lips now bloody. "Losing hurts worse than anything I could ever imagine!" He shouted incoherently as he charged at me, and our fists clashed mid-air with a thunderous boom! My fist somehow overpowered his own as he went reeling back, clutching his hurt arm. I didn't know how or even care how I suddenly became so strong at this point. All I knew was I wanted to put him down!

With a quick burst of speed, I managed to deliver a swift kick to Zod's side, forcing him back momentarily. I pressed forward, unleashing a flurry of punches and kicks, my moves a blur of motion. Zod fought back fiercely, matching my increased power with his own years of experience. Every move of his was sent out with deadly precision. A lot of them landed on me, and they hurt, but I just shrugged them off. We traded blows, the sound of impacts echoing through the air.

As the fight raged on, I could see Zod's frustration growing. Clearly upset he was losing to an 'inexperienced girl' so much younger than him, Krypton's most elite general. His attacks became more desperate, fueled by his anger. I wasn't much better off myself. But I was slowly wearing him down.

Finally, I saw an opening—a split second where Zod's defenses were momentarily weakened. I unleashed a devastating uppercut, channeling every ounce of strength and energy within me. The impact connected with Zod's jaw, sending him sprawling backward. He was so dazed he lost control of his flight ability.

Zod crashed to the ground, momentarily stunned. I didn't hesitate. I closed the distance between us, grabbing hold of his collar and pulling him to his feet. My grip tightened as I stared into his eyes.

"This ends here," I declared. I delivered a powerful second punch to Zod's jaw, the impact resonating through my fist. His eyes rolled back, and his body crumpled to the ground, unconscious.

"..."

"Holy shit, that was awesome!" Flash cheered before his tone once again went somber. "I'm sorry about Rose Knight, though," he said sadly. All the other heroes had their heads down as well, a sign of respect, I guess. Did they think she was dead? Oh right, they didn't know she was a vampire.

"She's not dead," I said with a sigh.

"WHAT!?" x4

I turned to my cousin, asking if he could go find a cow or something while I walked over to stick Rose's head back on her body. He looked at me confused before he flew off to the nearest farm.

"What do you mean she's not dead?" Batman justifiably questioned. Wonder Woman and Flash looked like they wanted to know as well.

"She's a vampire. They can only be killed if their heads are completely set on fire and turned to ash," I explained. Wonder Woman nodded in realization; she probably knows about vampires as an Amazon.

"Vampires are real!?" Flash exclaimed, shocked. "...Wait a minute…" he said before he turned to Batman and gave him an expectant stare.

"No, I'm not a vampire!" Batman scoffed. Flash didn't quite believe him, and I just laughed at his exasperated sigh.

A few minutes later, Superman returned, carrying a very upset cow that would be for Rosalie's revival/dinner.

"I'm so glad you're okay, Rosalie." I was really glad vampires could survive getting their heads ripped off, or I would have lost one of my best friends. I could tell the other heroes were glad too, if not a bit freaked out still.

"So…" Flash said awkwardly. "Vampire, huh? Those are real too, I guess? So what does human blood taste like? Because clearly, from your face, that cow wasn't very good." He tried to joke light-heartedly. Rosalie just glared at him though.

"I've never tasted a drop of human blood in my entire immortal life," she said, to everyone's surprise.

"That is truly impressive!" Wonder Woman declared. "I dare say they would write ballads about your sheer will to resist the temptation despite your nature back on Themyscira." Rosalie looked upset: A) the fact that everyone here had now seen her real face, B) knew she was a vampire, and C) apparently an island of thousands of immortal women also knew vampires existed.

"So, how old is she exactly?" Flash whispered, mostly to himself, but everyone with super hearing heard him.

Rosalie obviously heard as she answered, "I'm over 50." I could tell even Batman was impressed with her never having any human blood in all those years by his wary expression softening a bit.

"..."

"Well…" I said to Rosalie, "there was an upside to today at least... You know, besides us saving the world."

Rosalie looked off to the skyline where Metropolis could be seen with multiple buildings toppled over. "We caused billions of dollars in property damage, and I had my head ripped off for the first time in my immortal life! What other upsides could there possibly be?"

"We got to skip class at least," I said with a laugh.

"You two are in university?" Flash asked us, overhearing our conversation.

"Yes, yes we are," I lied with zero hesitation, and Rosalie nodded along. I wasn't telling the future Justice League I was still in high school…

…Wait!? Wasn't today supposed to be Bella's first day at school!?
