Road Trip

EMERY

I tap the steering wheel with my fingertips, trying to control my impatience as I repeatedly glance at the front door of Arwan's house. I arrived early, and now I've been waiting for almost ten minutes like an idiot, wondering if I should go alone. The idea of facing the day with him is both exciting and infuriating, especially after what happened yesterday.

Liliana's mum has always been kind to me, caring about me in a way I wish my own parents would. They have no idea where I'm going and haven't even bothered to ask. It's like they're not interested in my life at all. Mrs Johnson, on the other hand, treats me as if she were interviewing me, genuinely concerned for my safety. I've never had anyone care so much about me, so I kind of feel compelled to go to the exhibition with her son.
