Evidence

The weight of uncertainty sits heavy on my shoulders as I go through the motions of training. My muscles respond to the drills out of habit, but my mind is a million miles away. It's been almost a day since Liliana and I searched Emery's room, hoping to find some clue that could lead us to her. But our efforts yielded nothing, and the frustration is eating away at me.

I try to focus on the basketball court, on the rhythmic bounce of the ball and the sound of sneakers screeching against the polished floor. The coach's instructions are a distant hum in my ears as I push my body harder, trying to outrun the worry and anxiety that gnaw at my thoughts.
