The Manor

Mabel wore a colorful dress with purple silk gloves and the black velvet hat that Elijah had gifted her the night before. When Elijah saw his mother's entire getup, he couldn't help but flinch.

He removed the hat from her head and let out a long sigh. He thought the dress did not match the hat and gloves, but Mabel looked rather upset when he removed the hat. Thus, Elijah let her wear the gloves even though the contrasted colors bothered him.

He offered his arm, into which Mabel slipped hers. They walked outside the house, and Mabel gasped when she saw a carriage already waiting outside. It was an upper-class coach painted in shiny black.

The driver of the coach jumped off the carriage to open the door for the passengers. Mabel turned around, looking at Elijah with tearful eyes before returning her gaze to the coach in awe.

"What is this, Elijah?" Mabel asked with a shaky voice.
