Chapter 17: Jean's Feelings
After an awkward silence, I excuse myself and said that I'm going home. Kei insists to walk me through their gate.
It's too early to have a problem and I'm aware of it and I don't have a position to get mad so I just stay quiet and get going to go home. I said goodbye and proceed to go home.
I arrived at my home and suddenly my phone rang. When I pick my phone I saw numbers calling me that I had never seen. When I answer my phone I heard a familiar voice. It is Jeanneth asking if we can meet outside at the coffee shop. I want to refuse because I'm too tired but I know Jean, she's a compulsive person. I got no choice so I go out to go where the coffee shop she was talking about. She sends me the location so I went where it is.
The shop is not too far so after a minute of driving I reach the destination. I enter the cafe and saw Jean sitting at the corner while sipping the coffee. I instantly call her name and she looks at me. I wave and start walking towards her.
" So, why did you suddenly call me and make me come here?." Before she even talks I suddenly ask her again because I was too curious how she got my phone number. " How did you have my number? Who gave you my number?." I patiently wait for her answer and she finally talks "You know that I'm applying at Keisha company right? I request your number at Kiel". I can't progress with her answer cause Kiel not working at the company. " Kiel? It doesn't make sense at all, whatever so Kiel the one who gives my number to you?." She said yes, and I proceed to ask why she called me.
Just by a minute, I order my cafe before we discuss what we should talk about. " So uh, Jean, what's your business with me today?" Before she talks, she sips her coffee before talking to me. " I'll be straightforward, are you and Kei in a relationship?." I choke my coffee as I heard what she said. Before I could talk she respond again. " Based on your reaction I guess it's true." I can't talk, my mouth is not moving as I want to talk.
She again talks to me and asks me. " Why Angge? You know that she's already with Kiel." That's when I talk, I can't face the reality. I know that I look pathetic now but I can't stop. " And you know that their marriage is arranged by their parents, don't you?" I said to Jean with guilt. " Are you being insane right now Angelica? Why are you being so dumb? Why are you forcing yourself into their relationship?" That question left me speechless. I can't avoid the truth, I know that already but still, it hurts. " You know Jean, just stop. I know that already so you don't have to remind me. I'm not forcing myself, I want it this is what I want. Don't worry I will stop once they will get married."
I can't imagine myself saying that words. Jean can't see me with that pathetic smile on my face. Jeanette can't control her feelings and slap me. I can't feel any sentiments, I know her feelings and I am her friend. She starts crying as she speaks.
" Why? You know that I'm always here, why did you choose her and not me? I confess and confess to you so many times since we were in high school. I didn't stop loving you so why? Why I can't be her? Why? " I can't speak, I'm too coward. I know her feelings and I just act like I didn't know. I don't want to hurt her. She left with many why with my decision. I can't let her cry anymore because of me.
All I can say are sorry. Before I can speak to her she suddenly stand up and left me. It is raining as soon as she left the cafe so I followed her to where can she be.
