Because of Love

Lin Qiong returned home with his purchases and as soon as he entered, he saw Fu Xingyun sitting in the living room watching financial news. Lin Qiong wasn't particularly interested in news, considering he was just interested in social news in his previous life.

There was a sound not far away, and Fu Xingyun turned his head to see Lin Qiong coming in with many things in hand.

Lin Qiong saw him looking at him and a smile formed on his lips. "Good morning," he greeted.

The young man's lips were slightly curved, his hair not as meticulous as it was at yesterday's wedding. The black and dense hair fell over his forehead, making him look like a college student just stepping out of the school gate.

Fu Xingyun glanced silently and turned his head away.

Lin Qiong: ... damn bad guy.

Lin Qiong went into the kitchen and prepared breakfast, then walked to the living room to push him to eat.

Fu Xingyun looked at Lin Qiong, finding his actions to be highly unusual and suspicious. Since last night when the other entered his room, sudden speculation emerged in his mind.

The other party might be sent by his family's mansion to monitor him.

Previously, Fu Xingyun had intended to ignore Lin Qiong and let him be if he didn't cause any trouble. However, now it seemed that the situation was not as simple as he thought.

Fu Xingyun was not naturally suspicious, at least not until the fire incident half a year ago.

After breakfast, Lin Qiong looked at Fu Xingyun sitting in the wheelchair. It was surprising that there was no one to take care of him in such a large mansion. It seemed that the Fu family was exceptionally ruthless.

No wonder Fu Xingyun didn't spare even his own father after he turned against him.

"The weather is nice today. Let me push you outside for a walk," Lin Qiong suggested as he noticed the sunny weather when he went out earlier. He glanced discreetly at Fu Xingyun's legs.

Going outside to soak up some sun can also help with getting some calcium.

Fu Xingyun looked at him coldly and replied, "I'm not going."

Lin Qiong insisted, "The air outside is fresh, staying indoors all the time will make you grow mushrooms."

Fu Xingyun remained firm, saying, "I'm not going."

Hmph! Why is this child so stubborn?

But now everything depends on the other person's physical and mental well-being. Otherwise, he would feel guilty about the alimony in case of a divorce.

The young man approached and then crouched down, his bright and spirited eyes meeting the other's gaze.

"Let's go outside for a walk," he said, reaching out and lightly touching Fu Xingyun's leg. The cool fingertips rested on the man's knee, but upon closer observation, one could notice a slight tremor in those fair and slender fingertips. It was as if a toothpick bird had landed on the back of a crocodile. "You're still in the recovery phase, getting some sun and replenishing calcium by going out can accelerate healing. You'll be able to stand up faster too."

Fu Xingyun frowned, his dark eyes becoming mysteriously deep and unfathomable.

It seemed as if the other person was telling him an extremely offensive joke.

The doctors had all said that he would be paralyzed and unable to stand up in his next life, yet the person in front of him had such a laughable idea. Fu Xingyun removed the hand from his knee. "You don't need to bother."

Growing up without anyone to protect him, Lin Qiong had become adept at reading people's expressions. As he looked at Fu Xingyun's demeanor, Lin Qiong realized that he had stepped into a minefield. However, once that foot had landed on the mine, it wasn't something he could easily retract.

Lin Qiong swallowed nervously and mustered up his courage. "We are already married, why wouldn't I care?"

Fu Xingyun replied, "Don't forget why we got married in the first place."

Lin Qiong glanced at him deeply and then lowered his head, shyly saying, "Love."

Fu Xingyun: ...

As he noticed the man's expression turning colder, Lin Qiong hurriedly continued, "From your perspective, it may be driven by self-interest, but from my perspective, it's because of love."

With that, the young man stepped forward and grabbed Fu Xingyun's hand. "Actually, I've liked you for a long time, Fu Xingyun."

"But before, you were so outstanding and dazzling, while I was just a small person among your countless admirers," Lin Qiong said, squeezing the gap between his fingers, about the size of a mung bean. "I felt that I didn't deserve you."

"But then you had an unfortunate accident, and I unexpectedly gained this opportunity for a marriage of convenience, even though I said I didn't want it before..." Lin Qiong paused and looked at the diamond ring on his finger. "Actually, my heart was already blooming with joy."

Lin Qiong's bright eyes stared at him, unwavering and without any evasion or guilt. Seeing this, Fu Xingyun felt a crack appearing in the wall of his previously held beliefs, just like a corner of a wall that had been nibbled away by a little mouse.

But this crack was too small, merely one percent of the wall, and his words did not change Fu Xingyun's perception of him.

Lin Qiong looked at him, and a hint of sadness gradually appeared in his eyes. "I know you don't love me, and marrying me is just a family obligation. But it's okay! Let me be there for you during this difficult time. When you recover, we can get a divorce!"

Saying this, Lin Qiong placed his hand back on Fu Xingyun's knee. This time, he didn't meet his gaze but lowered his eyes slightly, looking up at him. With his fair complexion, his slightly tilted face and lowered brows gave him the appearance of a small creature, observing Fu Xingyun. Visually, it brought a great sense of satisfaction and contentment to Fu Xingyun's mind.

Fu Xingyun's gaze unconsciously fell on Lin Qiong's face, about to say something, but he was interrupted by the young man as he placed a finger on his own lips.

"I don't expect you to love me. I just want to be by your side..." and your money.
