"How could this have happened? We were so careful." I start counting the days on my fingers. "It must have happened during our trip to the Bahamas." I take a deep breath, trying to calm down. It helps a little. "What am I going to do? And how am I going to tell Elliot?" That same day, Thea and I meet up for some coffee. "I'm so nervous, Evie. I'm meeting Paul's son tonight, the one from his first marriage. I really want him to like me." Thea explains. "You have nothing to be worried about. He's going to love you." "You think so?" "I know so! You should totally show him the card trick. You know, the one you learn from that surfer in Tahiti a few years ago? That will impress him." I tell Thea. "good idea! I'll do that. Do you want to go out and have a drink with me after? I can tell you all about it and how it went." "yeah, sure, that sounds–" I freeze mid-sentence. "I can't go out drinking. I'm pregnant!" I tell myself. "Umm, why don't we do something else instead? We could go to the movies." "They aren't showing any good movies right now. Paul and I checked that out yesterday." Thea replies. "Okay, well, let's go for a walk then?" "A walk?" Thea eyes me suspiciously. "Seriously, what's up with you?" Thea asks. "I'm just tired of drinking, that's all" I answered. "You NEVER turn down a night out with me. You're pregnant, aren't you?" 'How did you know?" Thea gasps and covers her mouth with her hand. "I didn't! I was just making a joke. Are you seriously pregnant?" Thea questions. "Yeah, I am. I just found out." I shake my head. " I don't know how it happened." "What are you going to tell Elliot?" "I don't know." I groan and put my head in my hands. "You need to tell him, Evie. Maybe he'll be thrilled about it." Thea responds. "Of course, I'm going to tell him, but I want to wait for the right moment. Besides, he has so much to deal with right now, I don't want to bother him with this." I explained to Thea. "Okay, but don't wait too long." "I won't" I sight, and we drink the rest of our coffee in silence. Back at our place, I'm still none the wiser, "Gosh, what am I going to do? I have a few hours before Elliot gets back from work. I need to figure things out." I stop in my tracks when I see Mina standing out on Elliot's porch banging furiously on the door. "Elliot, I know you're in there! I won't leave until you come out and take responsibility for your actions!" Mina yells. I glare at her. "My husband isn't home. Now please leave before I call the cops!" I tell her. "That's what you'd like, huh?" I'm not leaving until Elliot knows what he did to me." 'What he DID to you?" I ask. "He didn't tell you everything about that night, did he? Well tough luck, sweetheart. I'm pregnant, and he's the father." She smiles. "She... pregnant? But I'm pregnant with him, too... Ugh, I can't deal with this right now" I say to myself. I pick up my phone and start to dial 911. "Good, you're calling him." "I'm calling the cops." I show her my phone which has 911 dialed in, and my thumb hovers over the call button. "Last chance, Mina." She scoffs and rolls her eyes. "Fine, I'll leave. Tell Elliot I'll be back to claim the father of my child." She rubs her stomach tenderly before striding away. I immediately take out my phone and text Elliot. "Mina was here, and she had a surprise for us." I text Elliot. "What kind of surprise? Is she gone now? Are you okay?" Elliot starts asking tons of questions. 'She's gone, and I'm fine. She told me she's pregnant, and that you are the father." I tell him. "WHAT??? She's lying. I never slept with her!" "Are you sure? "Yes, trust me." "But you said that you don't remember most of the night..." I replied to his message. "Baby, please don't believe her lies. I do have some holes in my memory, but I'm adamant that I never touched her." 'Okay. I can't believe I let her get to my head" "I can't believe she even tried this. Look, I'm going to get a restraining order against her." Elliot tells me. "You are?" "Today. I should get your mind off this. Get ready, My driver will pick you up." "Where are we going?" I asked. "You'll find out very soon." 'Hmm..." Elliot's driver drops me off at a secluded street, and as soon as I step outside The vehicle, I see Elliot. He stands in front of a beauty salon, looking incredibly good. "I can't believe you're taking me to a beauty salon. I could really use this right now." Elliot gives me a sheepish smile. "Actually, we're going to the store next to this one." Elliot bursts my bubble. I look to the right... and see a sign with the words "bridal dresses." 'We're going in there?" Elliot smirks and takes my hand. "Come on, you'll like it." "The truth is, I already do." I look around the shop, completely breathtaking. "I've never been inside a bridal shop before. I'm curious to see what they have." "Well, browse away. I look over to my left and see many dresses on display in all colors and sizes. I see a lady walk towards me. "Hello! How can I help you today?" "I'm just browsing." The lady and I begin to look at the dress and try them on until I found the one that was on the one. A few days later... "ugh, I'm so sick of this morning sickness! When will it end? I can't keep hiding this from Elliot." I say to myself. I brush my teeth and make myself look presentable. At that moment, Elliot walks in and kisses my forehead." Hey, babe. I've got great news!" "Did Mina move to another country, and we never have to see her again?" He chuckles. "Okay, let's just say that I have good news." "let me hear it!" "I managed to move the court da. It's in 10 days. We've got enough evidence to get rid of Mina once and for all" "Really? That's–" A sudden burst of nausea hits me. "Oh no, not now! I was just sick five minutes ago, how could I feel nauseous again?" I thought to myself. Just as I feared, Elliot eyes me suspiciously. "You look really pale, Evie" Elliot points out. "I'm fine." I replied. "You don't look fine. In fact, you've been acting weird for a while now. What's going on, Evie? Is there something you need to tell me?"
