Midas's swift feet carried him back towards the city, a triumphant grin playing on his lips.
That was awesome!
At that moment, he was sneakily running back to the city, making sure he was not seen by chance. If anyone had an idea that he was around there, then that would make them think too much when they found out about what happened back there at the scene.
"Perfect… just perfect!" whispered Midas to himself, silent laughter bubbling up from within, not from mirth but the sheer perfection of his plot.
The city, bathed in the glow of the morning sun, seemed unaware of the dark story that had just unfolded beyond its walls.
And Midas would like to keep it that way.
As he melded into the shadows cast by the trees, his mind replayed the moment of execution. His plan had been daring, reckless even. It was to use a hydrogen sulphide bomb, something invisible yet potent, an assassin that would strike at them when they least expected it.
