The Hidden Factor

The `Clan Binding Soul Contract` was a document whose function and implications most people took for granted. It was a terrifying piece of documentation.

It effectively signed over someone's soul to the ownership of the Clan Totem!

This was not something simple at all as the Clan Members had found out so many times before.

The Clan Totem would at most times be an observer, saying and doing nothing until it was called up or had to activate to protect itself and the Clan.

They signed everything over to the Clan Totem when they entered the Clan. And this was true for the blue-skinned aliens too. 

Article number VI of the Contract stated the following: `VI. I will now and forever surrender all legal rights, and furthermore, all rights given by birth, to my SOUL to the undersigned beneficiary UNTIL the day that the beneficiary relinquishes all rights to my SOUL through a CLAN VOTE.`
