Adelia woke up feeling a bit drowsy, her arms stretched lazily above her head before slumping back down.
She blinked up at the ceiling in a daze, she still couldn't make sense of Meryl's reaction yesterday, it had made her really worried... and scared.
She had thought her beloved wolf had turned on her.
But her anxiety was unnecessary, because as soon as the wolf began to growl, it stopped and quickly humbled itself in apology.
The gesture surprised her but she was relieved.
Meryl was evidently furious and wary yesterday, Adelia knew, but she sensed that the anger wasn't directed at her, though she couldn't explain how she could tell.
The predatory behavior displayed by the wolf had been aimed at something else entirely, leaving Adelia utterly clueless about the target.
It left her clueless… and curious but she was grateful.
