"Good morning," Abel said softly after I'd disconnected the call and slipped the phone into my purse. A weighty silence enveloped us and threatened to collide our bodies together. It was a healthy silence though. "How was your night?"
"It was..." I trailed off, trying to think up the right words, "... awkward? I don't know. I thought you'd already left."
"What? No. I'd never do that to you." The silence pressed on. "Come here."
I moved closer, the scent of coffee wafting off him feeling like home.
"You okay, sunflower?"
