Fool Again

Amelie

Liam laid on the sofa bed as I walked by. He was on the phone with someone, presumably one of the girls he has been spending his nights with. A week has passed since I moved in. And the only meaningful conversation we've had ever since the events of that dinner, was him buying me a new phone to replace the old one.

Aside from that, we never really spoke, and he rarely came home even at night. At some point I was worried about his safety, but not anymore. We were grown-ups, and we both know what was best for us. What he does with his time should be of no concern to me.

"Do you need a ride?" He asked. I was surprised, but refused to express my shock. I thought we weren't speaking to each other, but that was apparently not the case anymore.

It was the weekend, and my intentions earlier was to visit Colin and free myself of the tension that always clouded the entire house. But that wasn't possible anymore. There was no way I was letting Liam drive me to Colin's place. Knowing Liam, he would probably misread my relationship with Colin, and would act on his feelings regardless of the explanation I give him. I was not ready to get Colin in trouble just yet.

"That's not necessary. I'll be fine on my own." I replied, but he wasn't listening. He was already on his feet, and juggled his car key expertly as he approached me.

"Are you sure?" He asked when he got close enough that I could practically hear his heartbeat. It was obvious something was wrong with him, and I wanted to know what.

"What do you want Liam?" I asked

"I want to know how you spend your day, and who you spend it with." He answered before spreading his arm around my shoulder.

I pushed away from his hold, and distanced myself a little from him. "Since when do you care about what I do with my life? You looked fine ignoring me all week."

"Can we put our differences aside for a moment, and get to know each other better?"

Now my suspicions were even stronger. Those weren't the words the normal Liam would say. That was when it all dawned on me, he was suspicious of my movements.

"You bastard! You think it's alright to go around sleeping with women. But when I decide to leave the house, you immediately suspect that I'm off to meet another man?" I yelled at him.

"That's not true." He argued, but I knew better than to believe him.

"We're not married Liam, and there's nothing going on between us. I can see any man of my choice and there's nothing you can do about it."

His eyes darkened in annoyance and his hands reached for me at lightning speed. I was quick to evade his hold and immediately put a larger distance between us.

I glared at his hand which was still up in the air, before returning my gaze to his eyes. This was the second time he just tried to assault me under a week of us meeting again. And for some reason he believes that I would get married to him again.

Slowly he lowered his hand, and from those perfect lips of his escaped words I never expected him to say.

"I'm sorry I acted out of line."

I quickly stared away from the movement of his lips and focused my eyes on the floor. Those words of his seemed to have affected me in ways that I didn't expect. And had I spent even one more minute staring at him like that, I might have lost myself.

Without even realising it, he had closed the distance between us once more, and in one gentle pull brought me into the embrace of his sturdy figure.

"I've been trying to work on myself this past week, I don't want to hurt you anymore." He revealed.

My breathing became unsteady, and I could feel my heart bounding against my ribcage in an unusual manner. My brain suggested that all this was a lie, but my body said otherwise.

"I want you to forget our past, and try to trust me." He continued, his fingers stroking my hair gently. "If it's possible, let's start afresh once again."

I was lost for words. Although I knew there was no way Liam would change so fast, a part of me still wanted to believe him. He had this effect on me, one that I struggled to resist.

"When will you stop playing these mind games with me?" I asked before wrenching myself away from his hold. He was perplexed for a second, but in the next second he had subdued me once more in his arms.

I fought back, but it was meaningless. "When will you stop trying to fight me?" He returned and afterwards brought his lips down on mine. There was no time to fight back, and soon I found myself completely engulfed in the heat of the moment.

His kiss brought my frozen body to life, and only then did I feel the heat of his arousal pressed against my tummy. The hands that once fought to free me from his hold were now doing the opposite, and I found myself wanting more.

Slowly, his hands progressed to my hard breasts, while his tongue toured and savoured the inside of my mouth. He cupped them, and between intervals would squeeze them with profound expertise.

A light moan escaped my lips when his mouth left mine and descended towards my nape. My nails clutched tightly onto his skin as his tongue circled around my nipples. Slowly he guided me to the sofa, and without breaking contact lowered me down to it's softness. The shirt I had on was no longer a factor, and my bra had lost its usefulness.

"Liam.." I moaned as he suckled tightly on my demanding breast. His hands led mine down to his belt, and guided me to his domain. My hands registered his size, and I commited it to memory. Synchronous with his heartbeat, the pulsation of his erection pounded hard against the walls of my hand.

Every fibre of my body was awakened, and my entire being demanded for him. But in the same moment, Liam lifted himself off me and stood up from the sofa. Then like nothing ever happened, he rearranged himself to his perfection and excused himself, leaving me to curse myself.

Once again I was the fool. 'When will you learn?' I asked myself mentally. I just sat there while tears slowly streamed down my cheeks. Gathering my composure, I wiped away the tears on my cheeks before walking up to my room. I needed to get him out of my head as soon as possible, but that wasn't possible when everything around reminded me of him.

I needed to sleep, he would haunt me even in my dreams, but that was alright. At least I had a little control over my dreams. It was the only place where I could win against Liam Hardwood.
