Attacked

Amelie

Liam was not by my side when I got up from bed. It was still dark, the bright light of the crescent moon coupled with my growling stomach had interrupted my sleep, and now I was up for a late night snack. Thanks to Casmir I had lost the appetite to eat dinner with Liam, and now I was regretting that decision.

Climbing down from the bed, I strolled downstairs and headed for the kitchen. I had expected Liam to be awake in the study— getting some work done, but he was in the living room engaged in a deep discussion with Joey.

I pretended not to have noticed the two, it was best not to get involved with whatever they were discussing. Liam already mentioned once that Joey was a retired officer and she was mainly here to keep us safe. Their discussion could be about enhancing the security around the house, and I didn't want to interrupt it.
