Out Of The Partnership

Anna

As I walked briskly along the dimly lit city street, I couldn't help but feel like I was being followed. Every now and then, I had to steal glances over my shoulder just to make sure somebody wasn't trailing me.

It was four in the morning, and Jeremiah had insisted that we meet before the break of dawn.

The air was crisp, biting at my bare skin as I walked towards the designated location. The chill seeped through my overall, and reminded me that the nights were colder here in Egypt. My breath materialized in front of me, forming a misty cloud that danced briefly before disappearing into the frigid darkness.

The city streets were nearly deserted, the only people who littered the place were security men, and the night workers. My heart pounded against my rib cages as I took every single step. Each step I took reverberated in the silence, the sound echoing through the empty street in an eerie sense.
