The closest stars to our Solar System are part of the Alpha Centauri star system. Alpha Centauri is a triple star system consisting of three stars: Alpha Centauri A, Alpha Centauri B, and Proxima Centauri. Proxima Centauri was the closest of the three and is the closest known star to the Sun.

"Proxima Centauri was a red dwarf star located at a distance of approximately 4.24 light-years from the Sun. It is the closest known star to our Solar System. Proxima Centauri was located in the constellation of Centaurus," Sakaki said. "Alpha Centauri A was a star similar to our Sun. It was slightly larger and more luminous than the Sun. Alpha Centauri A was located about 4.37 light-years away. Alpha Centauri B was a K-type main-sequence star, somewhat smaller and cooler than the Sun. It is also located about 4.37 light-years away."

"They were?" Rain asked.
