Chapter Forty-nine

Her Pov

It's been a week since Rio's birthday party. Our school's on a two-week break so I have it all to myself. I've seen Rio everyday of this one week. He's such a darling and I hope he knows that.

It was a Saturday and Rio and I had decided to go for a walk. It has always been my favourite thing even if it kinda made me sad sometimes cause I was likely to see Styles. It doesn't really matter now though. I'm over him. Didn't take much effort as I had expected, I've had Rio by my side, that's why it easier I guess.

Rio and I were talking about something and all of a sudden, he stopped me and made me face him. His smile was gone and I stood confused.

" What's wrong Rio?" I asked.

" Don't look back" he said.

" Why not?"

" Just don't. Please"

I was wondering why but I listened to him and I didn't.

" Oh shit!" I heard him say.

" What's wrong now?"I said. This time around, I turned around before he could stop me. Oh! It was Styles and Debbie. And they were walking towards us. Awwwn! Rio was just worried about me. Isn't he such a sweetheart? He doesn't have to worry anymore though. I got this.

" Really? Them?" I asked.

" Anny, you don't have to...

I interrupted him by placing my finger on his lips.

" Don't worry, I've got this " I said. They had gotten to us now and Styles had that smirk I had once been crazy over. Not now anymore.

" Hey Styles " I said. He looked a bit surprised.

" Annalita, what a pleasant surprise " Styles said. I could see his smile was fake.

" Oh is it? Must be for you" I said.

" Oh Anny! You look well"

" Wasn't I supposed to be well?" I asked furrowing my brows. What does he think of himself?

" I mean...

" You know what, Styles? Why don't you and your company..." I sized up as I said that. "... go where you're needed" I completed. I could see the girl's face darken but Styles still had that fake smile on.

" You once needed me" he said. Debbie nudged him hardly, a frown on her face. He nodded at her.

" Good to see you Anny" Styles said as they made to leave.

" One more thing Debbie" I said and they stopped, " Styles doesn't like possessive girls" I added with a smirk. Her frown deepened.

" Good to see you too" I said and they walked away. I sighed relieved they were gone and turned to Rio was looking at me with a very surprised look.

" What?" I asked shrugging.

" I'm just so happy to see you stand up to him like that. Are you okay?" Rio said.

" Yeah. I've been waiting to do that since ages. I'm grateful we came out for this walk" I said with a smile. His eyes widened and he pulled me into a surprise hug. I hugged him back, inhaling his perfume. Moments like this when he hugs me or pecks me are always cherished. I think I'm very much in love with him. It was kind of very easy, I think I have love him from the start. I was just too blinded with making him taste his own medicine that I didn't see it. Unfortunately, Styles made me taste my own medicine too. It's not really unfortunate though cause if this whole thing didn't happen, I wouldn't have the chance to be with someone as amazing as Styles. I wonder if Rio hasn't noticed that in tripping over him. I mean, I've been giving him my green lights but he doesn't want to take the hint. Or maybe he does and just wants to make me wait. I don't mind waiting too. He waited for me so yeah, I really don't mind.

Rio released me from the hug and stared into my eyes.

" You don't know how excited I feel right now" Rio said. I didn't exactly understand why he was excited but I was glad I was.

" C'mon,let's get home" I said.We walked back home hand in hand, chatting and smiling happily. He made me smile without even trying. God! I love this guy!
