Chapter 4: If only I Wasn't in a Coma

Empire State University.

The main University of New York.

Gwen jogged through the campus and soon found herself inside one of the campus sports arenas.

As soon as she entered, she saw the guys from the rock band who were preparing to pack their things and leave.

After looking at them, Gwen said in a slightly apologetic tone: "Sorry, I was in a hurry and still didn't have time."

Even Gwen herself didn't notice that she had obviously run all the way here, but she didn't feel any exhaustion.

I didn't even have shortness of breath.

The members of the rock band, looking at the belated Gwen, said they didn't mind.

"It's good that today is not an important performance, but just a rehearsal."

"If you're late next time, I'll have to punish you with an extra two hours of practice alone, Miss Stacy."

"You just came in, you should have rehearsed another song, but unfortunately, it's time for the basketball cheerleading practice...".

The guys from the Rock Band joked with Gwen while packing their things.

Gwen continued to express her apologies.

At that moment, Gwen felt that someone was approaching her from behind, and, turning around, saw a hand that wanted to touch her shoulder.

She knew the owner of this hand.

It was Peter Parker.

"Hi, Peter!"

Gwen greeted Peter Parker standing in front of her with a smile, and Peter Parker looked down for a moment at the sight of Gwen smiling.

"Hi, Gwen."

"Uh... I happened to be free today, so I came to watch your rehearsal."

Upon hearing this, Gwen immediately folded her hands and apologized: "I'm sorry, Peter."

"There were unforeseen circumstances on the way here, and it took some time."

"It's okay, Gwen, I'm the one who came without saying hello."

Gwen elbowed Peter in the chest like a good buddy: "As a token of apology, maybe I'll buy you a cup of coffee?".

"I assume you're not in a hurry to get back to the lab right now?"

Peter froze, then nodded: "Yes, there's nothing in the lab right now that needs help."

"Then it's settled."

Without waiting for Peter to continue, Gwen turned to the members of her group and spoke: "You guys do the same, come here, have a drink and treat yourself to coffee."

The group immediately applauded.

Peter, standing behind Gwen, looked clearly lost.

Only when Gwen called out to him did he respond.

"Hey, Peter, let's go."

"Good."

Peter stepped forward and walked side by side with Gwen.

Gwen kept saying, "How are the experiments going with Professor Connors?"

"As always, without much progress...".

"Yesterday's Osborne Industries exhibition gave me some new ideas."

"I've put them together and will discuss them with Professor Connors this afternoon."

At the mention of the Osborne Industries exhibition, Gwen remembered yesterday's bite.

And while she was unconscious in Alex's house, she dreamed that she turned into a big spider with a disgusting face.

Gwen shuddered slightly at the thought.

Suddenly, a jolt ran through Gwen's body!

Danger has appeared!

Almost at the same time, someone from the group shouted, "Gwen, look out!".

A basketball flew past Gwen quickly.

In that direction was the rehearsal area of the basketball team and basketball cheerleaders.

Obviously, it was a member of the basketball team who wanted to show off his skill in front of the cheerleaders, but he didn't expect it to go wrong.

The basketball flew off to the side.

By coincidence, he was flying to Gwen and Peter.

The next moment, in an unexpected turn of events, a basketball that was heading towards Gwen, with a thud hovered behind Gwen.

The ball was caught.

The ball was caught by none other than Gwen.

Gwen didn't even look back and caught the ball blindly.

Gwen, who had regained consciousness, looked at the basketball in her hand with incredible surprise.

She didn't even know what was going on.

Almost subconsciously, her body reacted.

"Are you okay, Gwen?"

Peter, who was next to her, also reacted and immediately asked with concern.

"I'm fine, Peter."

"I'm sorry, you're not hurt, are you?".

Gwen shook her head, indicating that she was fine.

The ball was then returned to the other team.

This was the end of the small incident, the members of the group gathered their belongings and came up to us.

"Gwen, you caught the ball really cool when you learned to play basketball."

"Yes, Gwen. You know what? I was too scared to look at him just now."

Gwen could only smile formally at the compliments from the crowd: "It's okay, let's go to the cafe first."

"Everyone's thirsty, right?"

With these words, Gwen headed to the cafe, surrounded by a rock band.

All day, Gwen thought about everything that happened today, and it constantly seemed to her that her body was undergoing metamorphoses, the likes of which were not.

And there was a high probability that this metamorphosis was somehow connected with yesterday's spider.

She just couldn't find any proof.

Outside the school gates.

Gwen, having finished all her chores for the day, looked at her hands as she walked to the school gate.

At the moment when she was staring at her hands in a daze, a beep sounded, bringing her back to reality.

Looking up, she saw that a black car had stopped in front of her and slowly lowered the window.

A blond, middle-aged man leaned out from inside.

Gwen wrapped her arms around her chest without a smile: "Dad, you're scaring me."

"Sorry, Gwen."

"I was just trying to get your attention, what's wrong with the arm?"

"What happened?"

The blond, middle-aged man was Gwen's father, George Stacy, a staff sergeant with the New York Police Department.

Without answering George's question, Gwen immediately got into the car and continued to watch her hand.

George spoke at the wheel: "I don't mind you painting your nails if you want."

"Not really, Dad."

"I just...".

Gwen didn't know how to explain, and came up with a random excuse: "I just think my hands look good."

"That's right, you inherited great genes from me and your mother."

After looking at the smug George, Gwen said she didn't want to talk, and just closed her eyes and relaxed.

Continuing to think about everything that happened from last night to today.

Thinking about it, she thought of Alex.

"It would be nice not to faint then..."

Gwen didn't know why this thought suddenly occurred to her, and blushed....

...
