Chapter 39 Criminal 2

Lewis quickly jumped away from Xavier before looking forward, the lady's hands was already covered in lightning and she pointed it towards Lewis.

Before Lewis could react, he was struck, the lightning bolt she fired wasn't strong enough to kill him but enough to make him lose consciousness, Lewis tried to stay on his feet but he couldn't as light faded from his eyes.

...

Lewis's eyes fluttered open and he looked around, he was close to a camp fire with the students sitting around eating, all the students were divided into groups and he was with a group of three, his hands were tied behind his back with a chain, and his legs were also tied.

"Tomorrow we are going back, I can't tell you how happy that makes me" Pete spoke.

"At least we completed the assignment without losing anyone" Gabriel said.

"We didn't complete the assignment, we are going back because of the prisoner, I can't believe he was hiding out in the wastelands" Martha spoke.

"But why do we have to watch over this one" Pete said pointing at Lewis who was sitting with his eyes closed, he was awake but he didn't move so they wouldn't know.

"He's still asleep and his hands are chained with anti spell chains so he can't cast a spell" Gabriel said.

"I've never seen someone our age use necromancy spells before, does that make him a genius like you" Pete asked.

"I'm not a genius and besides, necromancy is bad, only mages who have fully mastered it are allowed to use it, I'm very sure he haven't mastered it, you know the criminal uses forbidden spells, maybe he was taught by him" Gabriel spoke.

"That's none of our business, when we get back to the kingdom, the senior leadership are going to decide, now we just have to stay through the night" Martha said.

'So these chains are stopping my spells, how do I get out of here, I was planning to create a distraction then summon Xavier but I'm not sure that going to work' Lewis mumbled under his breath.

'I'm not sure Lillian or Alfred is here, maybe they escaped, so I was the only one caught damn...now it all makes sense, both of them were living in the middle of the forest away from sight, I didn't even bother to ask why'

'So both of them are criminals, and I'm now a criminal to a kingdom I haven't even seen or visited before, and I know they are not going to let me off with just a warning'

It was already night, and after few hours most of the students were already asleep, both of the knight instructors were still absent as they went to search for Lillian and Alfred while the mage instructors were keeping watch along with some students.

"Pete go to sleep, they are people keeping watch" Gabriel said with a smile on his face.

"I don't care, we are in the wastelands and you are talking about sleep, I hope we never come back here ever again" Pete said.

"We are mages, so we'll definitely come back here, you know Elyria is still investigating the shadow plague, and mages are sent beyond the mountains every month, once we get to our third year, we'll be visiting this place frequently" Gabriel spoke.

"Yeah, that's two years from now, I'll be dead by then" Pete chuckled as he spoke.

"We should probably get some sleep, you know we'll have to walk all the way over back to use the teleportation portal, at least we don't have to walk all the way to the forest like we did when coming" Martha said and immediately looked at Lewis.

"What wrong?" Gabriel asked her as he also stared at Lewis.

"I saw him move just now, he's awake, he must have been awake for a long time...are you awake?" Martha asked Lewis but got no reply.

"Are you sure he's awake, he was struck by lightning so I don't think he's going to wake up that quickly" Pete said.

"I'm going to check" Martha said.

"How are you going to check without touching him, you know we are not supposed to touch or interact with him right" Pete spoke.

"Stop being a baby, I'll just touch him a little and see, now where should I touch, his face, his eyes, nose...oh maybe I should touch his dick" Martha said.

"Don't!!" Lewis replied almost immediately.

"I told you he's awake" Martha said with a smile.

"You know you are in a lot of trouble right, when we get back to Elyria, you should cooperate with them or you might be imprisoned" Gabriel said to him.

"Imprisoned for what?"

"You were traveling with a fugitive of Elyria kingdom, he's wanted for the crimes of murder, so if you don't cooperate you are going to be imprisoned and most likely tortured" Gabriel spoke.

"Was he caught?" Lewis asked.

"No, he and the elf got away" Martha spoke.

"Then it's fine" Lewis said as he relaxed his back.

"Fine, did you hear what I said, I told you...wait, you said it's fine, that means they are going to try to rescue you, do you think they would succeed?" Gabriel chuckled slightly.

"Have you ever heard of a bone tiger?" Lewis asked.

"Yes we have, why do you ask?"

"I didn't want you or your friends to get killed that was why I refrained myself earlier, but this time would be different, I don't care if all of you get killed. Imprison me...do you think your kingdom has what it takes to hold me in a cage" Lewis laughed.

"Huh!! what are you...you can't possibly be able to summon a bone tiger, you are bluffing" Gabriel said but Lewis's eyes were already closed.

"I think we should tell the instructor to keep an eyes on him, I don't think he's joking" Martha said.

"He doesn't look like something to joke" Pete said.

"That's exactly what he wants wants, to cause panic, I'll keep my eyes on you myself, make any more move and I'll put you back to sleep"
