The bright sun rays that blazed on Sebastian's face had entered through the gashes of the room window. Slowly, Sebastian's eyelids flapped open. After stretching his stiff body and yawning, Sebastian switched off the alarm clock set for 7:30 am. He was half an hour early as it was 7 am.
Sebastian walked past the elements of his room towards the door. "It's the right time to check her mobile phone," assuring himself in a confident manner, Sebastian nodded his head and clenched his fists. With the same vigor, he headed toward his mother's room and spotted the phone on the table as he entered.
" Wasn't that quite easy?" said Sebastian sarcastically.
As he extended his arm to pick up the phone, his mother grabbed it. Sebastian could see the suspicious stare in his mother's eyes. " What's up with my phone?" without blinking her eye, his mother shot a question at him that froze him to place. Sebastian kept circling his eyes, failing to make up any excuse to save him.
" umm, I thought you might have an additional number and I didn't know. Is that true?" in a low, unconfident manner, Sebastian asked.
"No, I don't have any extra numbers, you can check." Sebastian could see the truth in his mother's firm, guttural tone." you should go to the city library to distract yourself from random thoughts. That would be better for you as well as for me." giving a grave look to his son, Sebastian's mother left the room.
" I was wrong here," Sebastian spoke while scratching his head. "If she is not the mastermind, then who can be? that's a mystery to me." filling the interdigital folds of his fingers, Sebastian thought with concern.
Sebastian had walked to the landing part of the staircase and was clueless about the next move. He knew his life was a puzzle with missing blocks. He was as overconfident as a hare in a race and had tasted defeat. He had a pantry of mysteries and so he added that problem too.
Sebastian opened his home's front door and rushed out without further thought. Sebastian was immune to the noises of the outer world. He passed by several parks, shops, etc. but had nothing to drag him out of worries. He was staring blankly, like one without feelings, and wasn't aware of the path he trod. Unexpectedly, from nowhere, a BMW carrying three guys drove at a speed of 100 p/hour at Sebastian. When Sebastian turned his face backward, he was startled. His body began shivering and he was out of self-control. Then all of a sudden, an old man jumped and grabbed his hand. Sebastian would have been injured had the old man not pulled him.
The car crossed safely and both the old man and Sebastian were unharmed and untouched. " Guys these days have no concern for the life of themselves and others. I don't know how their families allow them to drive in the open. Child are you okay?" the old man fixed his eyeglasses on the nose bridge and asked in a casual tone. The old man was slim, had blond hair, and a clean olive-colored face.
Sebastian rose and nodded to the old man without looking at him. He was looking at the faraway BMW with contempt. He could notice that the car was black with silver plating. It appeared to be an old model with a number plate '7556'. Sebastian hoped that he would never see the car again.
Sebastian was one km away from the city library. As he strolled for half an hour without food, he had his stomach growl. " I hope there is a shop nearby so that I can eat something." Sebastian tilted his head in several directions until he found a cafeteria named "Rise and Grind" written on the top of the building on a blackboard with words in pink luminescence. It had glass doors the height of six feet with golden handles. It had two floors with a second one supporting transparent glass to enjoy the outer view.
Allowing no additional thought to evade his mind, Sebastian gently pulled the door to the cafeteria. When he entered it, he was immersed in its interior.
It had a dark presence, with several golden skylights hanging around and one golden chandelier in the middle. Around fourteen seats were available in two sets, being parallel to each other. The food counter had a young man in his late 20s, in a black striped shirt folded to the elbows.
" Hello sir, welcome to the 'Rise and Gind' cafeteria," saying it in a cheerful tone until his cheeks blushed, the man peeked at Sebastian. Sebastian's eyes spoke his interest in the man's greeting. He had his body energised and he inhaled a deep breathe of relaxation.
