"This is my current status..."
Julian stared blankly at the translucent panel floating in the air.
Level 1 in the level column should refer to his current life energy level.
In the new era after the space invasion, the Federation had invested a lot of manpower and material resources and after a long period of systematic research, using ordinary human beings as the measuring stick, it had created the extraordinary power division standard of life energy level.
The higher the life energy level, the higher the life level and the stronger the strength.
Among them, ordinary people who regularly exercise and have a strong body to elite soldiers with keen skills and strict training, all belong to the first level of life energy level.
Julian was currently at this level.
According to the uniform standard of the Federation, only creatures with a four-dimensional attribute average of 20 points could be classified as a being of life energy level 2.
Judging from the panel, Julian's current attribute's average was less than 13 points. It was placed among the lower half of the life energy level 1.
His highest attribute was spirit at 16 points, far exceeding other attributes.
It might be due to the influence of his coming from another world. Well, it was just a rough guess, as even until now spiritual attribute was still the vaguest attribute among humanity's four-dimensional attributes characteristic.
Agility was the lowest, only 10 points, which was the same as the average for ordinary adult males.
His strength and vitality were slightly above average, thanks to the original owner's effort over the past two years.
As for martial arts...
Julian took a glance at the martial arts column, and a look of helplessness flashed across his face.
The Whale Swallowing Breathing Method was the most basic technique spread in White Whale City.
More than 90% of the young people practiced this technique at the beginning of their martial arts life.
It was essentially a breathing exercise that improved the efficiency of gastrointestinal digestion and extracts more energy from a unit of food for the body to absorb.
It belonged to the most popular and common type of martial arts.
With a diligent practice, your vitality would improve to a certain margin.
Apart from breathing method, every person who has just stepped into martial arts will practice a boxing and kicking martial art to temper their body.
Julian in this case, choose Thunder Fist as his starting technique. It had quite an advantage compared to other techniques due to its high-power output and speed boost, and quite popular among young aspiring hunter. The downside was, in order to master it, it required a certain amount of talent.
Julian was quite befuddled by his predecessor's train of thought when choosing this quite troublesome technique. Considering his lack of talent, it was actually better to choose an easier martial art such as Wind Boxing Technique or Bull Charge.
Why did he do it? Because it's cool? Julian honestly had no idea.
"By the way, how does this personal development system make me stronger?"
As soon as doubtful thoughts appeared in Julian's mind, the box in front of him suddenly flashed, and new words appeared.
[Personal development start with solid foundation! Clear the mission to get stronger!]
[Push-up Novice]: Perform 100 push-ups, you can get 50 PD points upon completion. Current progress: 0/100.
[Squat Novice]: Perform 100 squats, you can get 50 PD points upon completion. Current progress: 0/100.
[Newbie to sit-ups]: Perform 100 sit-ups, you will get 50 PD points upon completion. Current progress: 0/100.
[Long-distance running novice]: After running 10km, you can get 50 PD points upon completion. Current progress: 0/10.
"Will my head go bald if I carry this mission? Or am I actually a transcendence monarch in my past life?"
[…]
Julian clicked his tongue inwardly by the system's lack of response.
'Well, if the system said so, let's try it first and think about it again.'
After confirming his decision, Julian immediately went down into push-up position and started grinding, earning strange gazes from the people nearby which he effortlessly ignored.
Even with 13 points worth of Vitality, Julian was still sweating and out of breath after quickly finishing 100 push-ups. Without taking a break, he immediately summoned the panel out.
[Complete the mission "Push-up Novice" and get 50 PD points.]
[The exchange store is open.]
Exchange store!
Julian's eyes lit up, and he quickly opened the store.
[Exchange store (next refresh: 23 hours, 59 minutes and 57 seconds)]
[Random Attribute Card: Randomly increase 3 attribute points upon consumption, exchange price: 100 PD points. One-use disposable item.]
[Random Martial Arts Card: Randomly obtain 100-500 martial arts proficiency upon consumption, exchange price: 100 PD points. One-use disposable item.]
[Lottery ticket: Obtain a random skill, item, or consumable upon usage. Exchange Price: 300 PD points. One-use disposable item.]
"Awesome!"
Joy burst in Julian's heart when he saw the stuff that could be obtained through the system.
Let alone the lottery tickets, even random attribute card and random martial art card were absolutely priceless!
Increase one's attribute!
Improve martial art proficiency!
Despite its random nature, it didn't lessen their value one bit!
He just needed to pray to the RNGod before using it!
A fiery passion set ablaze in Julian's heart.
Looking at the achievement list again, the original [push-up novice] position has been replaced by a new mission.
[Push-up Elite]: Perform 500 push-ups, and you will get 100 PD points upon completion. Current progress: 0/500.
"Whoop! A chained quest!"
The corner of his mouth raised involuntarily due to the pleasant surprise.
After resting for a while, he started to do the next mission without stopping.
[Complete the mission 'Squat Novice' and get 50 PD points.]
In no time, he racked another 50 PD points, making his total points reach 100. It was enough point to exchange for random attributes cards in the exchange store. Without any hesitation, he opened the store panel and bought the desired card.
Out of curiosity, Julian summoned the card out, and after making sure that nobody could see the card in his hand, he looked at it closely.
The card looked like a plain business card with a "RA" written on it. There was nothing special about its material or design, so Julian quickly lost his interest.
He fiddled with the card in his finger for a while, torn between using it now or later. After pondering for a long time, he decided to store it back.
Julian was quite prudent by nature, even in his previous life he often chose a safer and low risk decision rather than act impulsively.
Who could guarantee there wouldn't be something extraordinary happen when he used the card right now?
When an accident happened, many people would be suspicious of him. Sometimes, human could be hard to fathom, and he didn't want to catch troublesome people's interest for a quick gain.
At least not right now, when he couldn't even defend himself and when the threat of the unknown murderer still loomed above his head.
Julian strengthened his determination to act more carefully in the future.
Not wanting to waste anymore time, he quickly moved to the next mission. After recharging his stamina, Julian immediately started doing sit-ups hundred times.
Except for long-distance running, which cannot be carried out in the shelter, the remaining three sports can be completed quickly.
Time flew, and four or five hours passed in a blink of an eye.
After doing a few more sets of push-ups, Julian decided that it was enough for now. His clothes had already drenched in sweat and his muscled screamed in pain. But deSPIte so, a satisfied smile bloom on his lips.
[Push-up Elite]: Perform 500 push-ups, and you can get 100 PD points upon completion. Current progress: 358/500.
[Squat Elite]: Complete 500 squats, you can get 100 PD points upon completion. Current progress: 213/500.
[Sit-up Elite]: Perform 500 sit-ups, you can get 100 PD points after completion. Current progress: 195/500.
[Long-distance running novice]: After running 10km, you can get 50 PD points. Current progress: 0/10.
Julian nodded to himself. It seemed that it will not take long to clear these missions.
After closing the panel, he looked in the direction of the shelter gate.
"Is the space invasion not over yet?"
Just when Julian thought he was going to spend the night in the shelter tonight, the same dry mechanical sounding voice echoed through the speaker across the room.
"The space invasion is judged over. The shelter gate will soon be opened. Please exit the shelter in an orderly manner..."
As the sound of the announcement faded away, the light on the top of the gate change from red to green, and the gate slowly opened.
A chain of relieved sigh filled the room. People started lined up in front of the exit door, dragging their exhausted body out of the shelter one by one. Julian didn't make any sound and quietly followed the line.
A few minutes later, Julian stepped out of the shelter and back to the street.
The sky was still covered by dark cloud but the huge crimson vortex that spelled doom for humanity was no longer there, as if vanishing together with the rain.
A mixture of green and red liquid washed along with the trace of rainwater into the drainage on both side of the street. Flesh scattered here and there, and corpses piled up in every corner of the street, and ruined building was a proof how fierce the battle for survival for mankind.
The rain seemed to be failed to get rid of the smell of rust that pervaded in the air, invoking undesired memory in Julian's mind. His eyes glanced around, and complicated emotion aroused in his heart.
If the system didn't appear for him suddenly today, maybe the next time the alien races invaded, his cold body would be the one that laid down lifelessly on the ground. Or maybe he would end up as some ferocious beast's meal.
That was the cruel fate for the powerless and weak.
Shaking his head to dispel the gloomy mood, he took a step forward, treading the path leading to home.
Around him, traffic police and tow trucks appeared on the street one after another, and they began to direct traffic and clear obstacles, and the traffic in the city was gradually recovering.
People hurried on their way in silence, those who should go home went home, those who should work the night shift went to the night shift, everything was as usual.
It's not that they were numb, but that they had to get used to this kind of life. It was true that human was an adaptable animal. The death should rest in peace, and the living would continue live.
Julian did not take another bus but chose to go home by jog. There was a "Long-distance Running Novice" mission he had to clear anyway. Killing two birds with one stone, you might say.
The community where Julian lived was located in the old town in the south of White Whale City. There was nothing to brag about, other than the rent that was not that expensive.
When he arrived at the community, Julian had only run less than six kilometers, so he ran outside again, until he finished the 10-kilometer long-distance run, before turning around and heading back into the community.
After half a day of exercising, Julian felt as if his body was filled with lead, and fatigue started taking toll on his body.
"This body isn't good enough."
Julian shook his head, then pulled himself together, called out the panel, and focused on the random attribute card.
"Extract random attribute card!"
The next second after silently chanting, Julian felt a hot current surge in his body, pulsing through his limbs and bones in an instant, and most of the fatigue on his body was washed away at once.
Julian moved his limbs and was pleasantly surprised to find that his body seemed to be getting stronger already.
He quickly called out the personal panel.

"Vitality increases by 2 points, and agility also increases by 1 point!"
Julian shouted in joy.
No wonder he felt that his physical fitness has improved significantly.
Improvement by 2 points couldn't be considered low at all. Many Combat Departments students rolled around for several months to the point of self-abusing without being able to improve as much as Julian now. It was really worth spending the hard gained point!
"If I can increase my attributes by 3 points every day, then in a maximum of 9 days, my four-dimensional average value will exceed 20 points. That mean I can reach level 2 life energy in half month at the latest!"
Julian grinned from ear to ear, finding his current situation truly beautiful.
With life energy reaching level 2, it was enough to rank in the middle of the combat department students.
According to the data released by White Whale Hunter University last month, only 64% of the students in the combat department have reached level 2 life energy.
In other words, in just nine days, he could reach the level of a combat student at White Whale Hunter University!
Wait!
Julian shook his head and smiled wryly. He still lacked ambition! My poor life had narrowed my vision!
With the aid of the system, if he was already satisfied by comparing himself to the ordinary students, he was truly a bastard!
What a level 2 life energy?
He will definitely become the top powerhouse in this world in the future and reached the summit that no one had ever stepped before!
Julian suddenly felt his head cleared up, and the gloominess in his heart started to disperse.
From this day onward, his destiny started to gear up toward the brighter future.
