I looked at Karl in silence, lowered my eyelids, and then turned away as well.

Karl scrutinized me for a moment, his fingers gently tapping on the back of my chair, and then he stared at me for an extended period. Finally, he slowly asked, "Didn't you see my messages?"

I remained silent, only shaking my head without responding further.

Karl furrowed his brow and reached for my phone in my pocket, but I turned to the side and blocked his hand, covering my pocket with my own.

I also frowned and said, "Let's hurry up and order the dishes. We have an activity in the afternoon."

Karl let out a faint scoff, withdrew his hand from my pocket, sat up straight, turned his shoulder toward me, and faced away, no longer speaking.

The atmosphere at the entire table had now turned completely cold, and everyone harbored suspicions. A heavy, oppressive mood hung over the dining table.
