chapter123-The first snow

Cecilia's POV

The weather was getting colder, and a slight chill seeped in through the window, which I hadn't closed tightly. I sat at my desk, the flickering light casting uncertain shadows, and buttoned up the top button of my pajamas, burying myself in memorizing history facts.

My mother came to knock on the door. "Cecilia, go wash up and get to bed early. You have classes tomorrow." I nodded in response but continued reciting quietly. When I had finished memorizing an entire section of the material, I slumped back in the chair, rubbed my eyes in exhaustion, picked up the water glass placed on the side, and left the room.

I went to the kitchen counter, poured a glass of water, and Goldie crouched at my feet, hopping around, nuzzling my pants with her furry head. Goldie meowed a few times, took a few steps towards the stairs to the second floor, and then looked back at me. I smiled, petted her, and lifted her up, heading upstairs.
