Chapter 27: Confronting the Mole

*TRAE’S POV*

I had no choice but to outrun him. Blaine was a powerful wolf and Alpha by his own right, and I determined that if he was a traitor, it wasn’t worth the risk. I slowed my run and waited for him to pass; he was so focused on the trail that he barely seemed to notice.

When he was out of sight, I stooped and lapped at the drops of Mira’s blood on the ground, hoping they were potent enough to do the trick. They were. In an instant, I could feel my wolf doubling in size. Power surged through me as I began to trot and then all-out sprint, quickly catching up to Blaine’s wolf.

As a precautionary measure, I ran up beside him and slammed him into a tree, not hard enough to kill him, but hard enough to ensure that he wouldn’t be on my trail. Mira’s blood trail was becoming harder to see, but my superior senses could still smell her in the air. With determination, I pushed myself forward with relentless speed.
