Chapter 45: Something is Wrong

*MIRA’S POV*

*Later that night…*

Trae was sleeping so soundly that I didn’t want to wake him. Even after he was so badly injured after our first meeting, I had never seen him truly rest. Seeing him so tranquil now was a rare sight, as if the weight of the world had momentarily lifted from his shoulders. I kissed him tenderly on his forehead, savoring his familiar scent of sandalwood and a refreshing ocean breeze, then carefully slipped out of the tent, mindful not to disturb him.

As I walked, my thoughts were consumed by my reckless act of allowing Blaine to taste my blood. That decision had nearly cost Troy his life. How could I have been so foolish, so blind? Self-doubt gnawed at me as I ventured toward Troy's tent to check in on him. Could I truly lead this pack of wolves? Now I wasn’t so sure that I trusted my instincts…
