Chapter 22: Betrayal of a Personal Kind

“Talk. Now,” Eileen spits out, leaning ever closer to Hunter’s face as she holds him against a nearby tree.

“Jeez, always so demanding. Don’t you vampires ever chill out and go with the flow?”

Unamused, Eileen presses the tip of Hunter’s own knife against his neck, causing him to flail and comply, “Okay! Okay, I’ll tell you. I got kids to go back to, alright?”

“No more screwing around then.”

“Right. Right,” he replies, shoving his empty hands in his pockets. “Look, I work for a big wig bounty hunter, but then I also got this side gig for creeps like you. No offense.”

Eileen rolls her eyes, letting him continue. “So every now and again, I get a client to call in asking for some extermination help of the supernatural kind. I go in, slice and dice ‘em, and buy my little girl something special with the extra dough. You hear what I’m saying?”
