Chapter 47: Don't Lose Me Now

The moment my brain begins to register the flames on my body, all those years of “Stop, drop, and roll!” take over. I fall to the ground, rolling over my arm to try and put out the flames. Eileen, knowing that she’s better off not messing with an active fire while literally covered in open cuts, immediately jumps to her feet. She lunges toward Herald, kicking him square in the gut and causing him to lose control of the last two hair tendrils.

As the torches drop to the ground, Eileen fires out a series of rapid punches with the type of ferocious force you only really ever imagine a wild animal having. Herald tries to fight back, but stumbles straight into one of the fallen flames. Eileen jumps back, watching as Herald writhes before her, caught in his own demise.
