Chapter 14: Thieves’ Ambush

Lilia POV

Lilia saw the intruders burst from the bushes, only to confront a snarling Dane in wolf form, snapping at them with his teeth.

Three intruders.

One of them wore a crystal on a chain around his neck. A smoky quartz crystal. She’d personally fitted that crystal into its setting and attached the chain. And it was one of the items the thieves grabbed two weeks ago.

“Stop, thief,” she shouted with defiance.

Dane's ears pricked forward into sharp points. His growl, low and continuous, warned the thieves: SURRENDER. GIVE UP NOW.

Lilia’s heart thumped in her chest and the blood rushed to her head. She barely held on to the crystal rod she whipped out because sweat poured from her palms.

GODDESS BRIGID, PLEASE, LET MY MAGIC WORK, she thought.
