In the late afternoon light, with wisps of clouds in the sky, New Moon City shone brighter than the gold and jewels in a king’s treasure vault. And the crowd of shifters lining the streets to welcome Dane and Lilia and all the heroes was worth more than all the riches in the world.


Kyon, Jiro, Dirge, Reinald, and the other Evenhide heroes, also in wolf form, walked behind Lilia and Dane. Jude, Harland, and the Silverpaw heroes brought up the rear.


Lilia walked beside Dane in wolf form, her fussy hands combing his fur and teasing it just so. He had to look his best for their homecoming. He could put up with the fussing if it meant feeling her loving touch.
