"Ridiculous, how old is Muria now? He isn't even a legend, how can he be of any use?" Emperor Demos was immediately irritated when he heard his daughter, the Golden Dragon Mother, trying to shirk responsibility by pushing her not-yet-grown grandson forward.
"What use can he be? Dad, Muria is much stronger than you were at his age. He's already famous across the Osniro subcontinent; practically everyone knows him."
"Oh? What has he done?"
"He fought a battle with a human legend and didn't lose."
"That's it?"
"He also summoned three ancient dragons, which made the ruler of Aminis Kingdom give him an explanation…" The Golden Dragon Mother, Atreis, briefly recounted Muria's actions in Osniro, appearing to be somewhat indifferent, but in reality, she knew every move Muria made.
"Prodigal." Upon hearing of Muria's achievements, Emperor Demos, shining like the sun illuminating the heavens, showed no surprise. He too had the right to summon ancient dragons in his day, though he rarely used it.
Thus, his current thought was that Muria, his grandson, was truly wasteful—summoning ancient dragons cost money. Muria's achievements were purely bought with cash. Where did this money come from? Ultimately, it was from their elders.
"So, you can let Muria replace you." Hearing her father's annoyed tone about Muria spending without care, the Golden Dragon Mother didn't mind; after all, it was Muria's own money, not hers.
"Does he have enough assets?" Emperor Demos, hearing his daughter constantly pushing his grandson to take up the mantle, couldn't help but ask concernedly, knowing that with the right to summon ancient dragons, almost no problem couldn't be solved with enough money.
"Don't worry, even if Muria had a group of ancient dragons at his side, he couldn't run out of money anytime soon."
"Then let him do it!" Convinced by his daughter's description of Muria's resources, Emperor Demos immediately decided.
In the vast, desolate void, the majestic Dragon Emperor's claw gently slid, channeling the summoning power meant for him through his bloodline connection with Muria, directly changing his grandson's teleportation destination.
Inside the demi-plane filled with elemental crystals, King Beladian, holding his daughter Remilia's hand and with a trace of unease, looked at the altar in front of them. He had followed the Scaret family's legacy instructions.
The scale emitting a golden glow was one of the artifacts of kingship within the Scaret family.
According to family lore, in times of dire peril, holding the scale in this demi-plane could summon the legendary ancient Gold Dragon Emperor Demos, seeking his protection to ensure the family's continuation.
"Boom!" As Beladian placed the dragon scale in the center of the altar, a column of light bursting with spectral colors shot up, piercing through the space, reaching out to a mighty presence.
At the moment of connection with the Dragon Emperor, an incredible event unfolded within the demi-plane. Starting from the edges of the demi-plane, the crystals, brimming with abundant elemental energy and dazzling light, visibly began to dim and turn transparent.
The massive amount of elemental power was drawn into the altar, sustaining the summoning.
"He's coming!" Seeing the light column grow increasingly brilliant, Beladian's face showed undisguised joy. He was not only seeking a temporary Regent Duke for Rockman Kingdom but also a powerful protector for his daughter.
The legendary ancient Gold Dragon Emperor Demos, who had helped the Scaret family establish Rockman Kingdom 800 years ago, was the best choice. It was unimaginable how powerful this ancient dragon could be after 800 years.
As the light column grew brighter, a pale golden aura subtly filled the demi-plane, causing discomfort among the gathered nobles and ministers, and even the five legends present began to frown, sensing the discomfort.
Under Beladian's ecstatic yet somewhat puzzled gaze, a surprisingly short figure appeared within the light column. As the light gradually faded, the appearance of the small figure became clear, and the king's face went blank for a moment.
"Are you Emperor Demos?" Beladian frowned, looking at the confused young man standing on the altar, feeling a bit uneasy but still hopeful as he spoke.
"Emperor Demos?" Muria, standing aloft on the altar and somewhat bewildered, twitched at the corner of his mouth upon hearing the words from the aged, life-waning man below.
Muria roughly understood what had happened. He had been smoothly on his way to the Nociaro Eu continent after meeting with the Elf Queen in the Vemir Forest when, midway, an unexpected event occurred.
A powerful summoning column, carrying a familiar aura, found him and dragged him into this small demi-plane with irresistible force.
Initially
puzzled, now hearing his grandfather's name, Muria realized it all—this was his grandfather's doing; once again, he had been set up by his elder.
"Emperor Demos is my grandfather." Anticipating trouble, Muria looked up at the colorful elemental clouds covering the demi-plane's sky, feeling somewhat resigned.
A man clearly high in status and close to death, summoning a lawful good ancient dragon, definitely spelled trouble.
As the identity of the young man with black hair and golden eyes on the altar was revealed, Beladian's face twitched. The summoning had clearly gone wrong; he intended to summon an ancient gold dragon, not his descendant.
"Sorry, young sir, could you please come down?"
"What? You want to try summoning again?" Muria grasped the pale golden dragon scale floating in front of him, looking down at the middle-aged man trying to reactivate the altar.
"I really need your grandfather Emperor Demos's help right now."
"Don't bother trying. No matter how many times you attempt to summon, my grandfather won't appear here." Muria looked around, assessing the demi-plane set upon an elemental crystal foundation, which had been transformed into a large summoning array.
"Why? My family's ancestors clearly had an agreement with your grandfather that, in times of insurmountable danger, we could use this dragon scale to summon him, and he would help the Scaret family once more."
"This summoning array is too small to accommodate my grandfather's arrival." Muria examined the runes underfoot, nonchalantly explaining, "To summon my grandfather, you'd need at least an array capable of summoning a divine avatar. Yours is far too insufficient."
"Emperor Demos has become a god?" Beladian's face showed surprise, realizing that being linked to a true god could solve many problems.
"Not a god, but close enough."
"I see." Hearing Muria's response, Beladian fell silent, wrestling with his thoughts.
"Tell me, what trouble did you hope my grandfather would help you resolve?"
"Young sir, are you suggesting?" This time, Beladian used a respectful tone. The situation was different now; Emperor Demos's power had far exceeded his expectations, becoming akin to a true god.
"Since I've appeared here, it already explains everything. I will take care of your troubles. What did you originally want my grandfather to do?"
"To serve as the Regent Duke of Rockman Kingdom!"
