Chapter 359: The Nation of Misfits

"Do you think I don't know that?" the Dark Elf Queen scoffed, her eyes clearly displaying her displeasure as she glanced at the voluptuous Dark Elf below, scantily clad, barely covering her privates.

"Please forgive me, Your Majesty," Elyse, once a matron of a Dark Elf family, quickly apologized. She knew the queen harbored suspicions towards the elves who had surrendered to her rule and would seize any chance to suppress and scold them.

"Well then, you will lead the delegation to the Lockman Kingdom's ceremony," the Dark Elf Queen decided, seizing the opportunity to assign her the task. "Since Beleradin has invited my Medith Dark Kingdom, we must not show weakness."

"Your Majesty!" Elyse's face turned extremely ugly upon hearing the task assigned to her, a thankless and dangerous mission. After all, humans could sometimes be more bottomless in their depravity than demons, truly without any limits.

"Are you unwilling?" the Dark Elf Queen asked, her face wearing a gentle smile.

"I am willing," Elyse shuddered at the smile on the young queen's face, not even two hundred years old. The last time the queen had that smile, it was when a Minotaur tribe refused to submit, and she ordered their slaughter.

"That's good, prepare yourself. We leave in ten days." Pleased with the former Dark Elf matron's compliance, the blood-stained hands of the elf queen nodded in satisfaction, resuming her lazy posture.

"After you return from the ceremony, come see me immediately and report everything you observed. I'm very curious about that Gold Dragon regent."

"Curious enough to go yourself, why send me to my death, you damned dark-skinned bitch." Though outwardly respectful, Elyse's mind was already imagining a hundred and eight ways for the elf queen to die as she bowed deeply and accepted the command.

...

Ding! Ding! Dang! Dang! In the capital of the Sherman Dwarf Duchy in the eastern realms of the Lockman Kingdom, the sound of metal clashing could be heard everywhere, and sparks flew over the city, the air filled with a scorching heat.

"Your Grace, King Beleradin of the Lockman Kingdom has sent an invitation. In fifteen days, he will abdicate, and a Gold Dragon named Muria will become the regent. A ceremony of power transfer will be held, and our Sherman Duchy is invited to witness it."

A dwarf clad in heavy armor, short but incredibly sturdy, reported to the large dwarf sitting on an iron throne nearby.

He was a giant among dwarves, possessing all the distinct features of a dwarf but magnified tenfold, his size so immense he had nothing short in common, a dwarf awakened to the King of the Hill bloodline.

"Inviting a Gold Dragon to serve as regent? Ha." The Dwarf King, who had overthrown the previous, feeble regent with his unprecedented strong governance, showed a trace of interest, "Beleradin has some interesting ideas, despite being a failure."

"Your Grace, whom will you send to the Lockman Kingdom to attend the regent's ceremony?" asked a dwarf elder, stroking his braided beard nearly dragging on the ground, volunteering eagerly.

"No, I will go myself," the Dwarf King declined his minister's suggestion, making a decision surprising to all.

"Your Grace, that's not wise. Our Sherman Duchy is already at odds with the Lockman Kingdom. If you go to these humans' capital for the ceremony, they might seize the opportunity..."

"Even if those humans attempt to harm me, I can fight my way back with Mjolnir," the Dwarf King grunted heavily, his voice brimming with confidence. "But that's almost impossible."

"Why?"

"Haven't you heard? A Gold Dragon will take charge of the Lockman Kingdom. Certainly not like those despicable humans, so no need to worry. That settles it."

...

If there were a competition for racial reputation, Gold Dragons would surely be among the top. From the gods above to the lowliest creatures, any being with a hint of intelligence knows Gold Dragons are good and trustworthy allies.

Thus, Muria, by virtue of his Gold Dragon lineage, was welcomed everywhere—a dragon who could find allies in all the good-aligned races and creatures.

...

In the northern frontier of the Lockman Kingdom, within the Wild Northern Forest, stood a city built around a low, small volcano with giant stones, styled rugged and primitive—the capital of the newly established Red Wing Duchy.

At the heart of this stone city was a palace made of obsidian, built right over the mouth of the volcano. The king of the Gnolls, Xisa, who had evolved his lineage to be no different from that of a Red Dragon, resided there.

Of course, with his current appearance, Xisa had

nothing in common with gnolls, a term used derogatorily by the Lockman Kingdom.

In the Red Wing Duchy, all gnolls who had awakened their dragon lineages proudly called themselves Dragonkin and revered Xisa as the King of the Dragonkin.

At the same time that the Sherman Dwarf Duchy and the Dark Elves of the Dark Regions received their invitations, Xisa, as the ruler of the misfit nation in the northern territories of the Lockman Kingdom and a key figure Beleradin hoped Muria would intimidate, also received his invitation.

"Great King of the Dragonkin..." A dragonkin over five meters tall, covered in light red scales and with a long tail, walked into the rugged obsidian palace, then knelt fervently before the seated figure, expressing his reverence and delivering Beleradin's invitation.

"A Gold Dragon regent!" Hearing the news from the dragonkin evolved from a gnoll, Xisa, with scales bright red and a regal demeanor, opened his magma-like dragon eyes and slowly lifted his head, shifting to a seated position.

"Instruct them to prepare; I shall go to the Lockman Kingdom to participate in the governance ceremony of my dragon kin."

"By your will, my great king," without any doubt, the powerful dragonkin, whose mere presence distorted the air around him, set out to prepare. As a loyal follower who had risen from obscurity with Xisa, he was utterly devoted.

"Gold Dragon!" After the dragonkin left, Xisa, already aware of Muria's existence, murmured softly, "I wish, when I first awakened my dragon bloodline, it had been that of a Gold Dragon."
