Chapter 540: The Humiliation of Being Behind

"Cloud giant?" Seeing the snow-white giant flying out of the largest floating ship, Frostfang picked up his half-broken spiked club, tempted to strike at this cloud giant who seemed to have broken through to the soul-intent level.

"Chief Frostfang, calm down. This is Albert, the cloud giant leader, here to guide us," said the linen-clad frost giant beside Frostfang, who looked out of place among the rough frost giants dressed in animal skins. He was an envoy sent by Muria to guide the Frostwolf tribe.

"Just a soul-intent level," Frostfang, the frost giant chief, looked at the elegantly dressed cloud giant leader above and couldn't help but think of the human nobles and commoners. He, covered in animal skins, was like a lowly commoner, while this elegant cloud giant was like a noble.

"Synapse Management Regulation Article 27: Under no circumstances shall any member of Synapse attack a companion. Any disputes above the gold level must be reported to the Arbitration Hall," the cloud giant leader looked down at the frost giants below, trying to make his expression as non-arrogant as possible and avoid showing any contempt.

Although cloud giants and frost giants were both giant species, the civilization gap between them was enormous. The cloud giants following Muria had begun entering the era of magical industrialization, while the frost giants were still in the primitive, savage era, using bone clubs.

Without Muria's mediation, no cloud giant would bother with frost giants. Even under Muria's orders, it was hard for cloud giants to teach the frost giants miners sent by Claudia with a mindset of equality.

Despite knowing that the towering frost giant chief below was a legend, the cloud giant leader felt no respect. After all, more than one legendary figure had been captured and used to provide power for Synapse. As a mid-level manager of Synapse, he felt a natural superiority over the barbaric frost giant chief.

This sense of superiority was common among the cloud giants following Muria's orders and reluctantly teaching the frost giants. The frost giants had no choice but to endure this discrimination and study hard.

Muria, aware of all this, had no solution other than to order the cloud giants not to go too far and to show at least superficial respect. To change the cloud giants' disdain and superiority, the frost giants had to rely on themselves. Muria's orders alone wouldn't suffice, as he couldn't turn thousands of cloud giants into sages. If you lack the skills, don't blame others for looking down on you. To earn respect, you must show your worth.

"Chief Frostfang, just joined under Lord Muria's command, and you want to rebel?" The cloud giant leader stared straight ahead, his eyes shifting down to glare at Frostfang in a disrespectful stance, but he felt he was adhering to Muria's orders and showing superficial respect without causing trouble.

Frostfang tightened his grip on the half-broken spiked club as he glared at the arrogant cloud giant above. He had the urge to turn and leave with his tribe, but he knew he could take no one but himself, his wife, children, and a few confidants. With the appearance of the Titan and even the compromise of the god he worshipped, he had lost much of his authority.

"I want to know, what is above my head? Is there any possibility it could fall and hit my people?" Frostfang coldly stared at the fleet above, noticing that the floating ships contained not only cloud giants but also other giants and creatures.

"Ahaha!" Hearing Frostfang's question, Albert, the cloud giant leader, twitched his face, suppressing his laughter. After a few breaths, he rubbed his face to hide his smile.

After a while, Albert recovered. "Chief Frostfang, I appreciate your concern for your people, but don't worry. These are cloud islands, rare geographical wonders in the world. Without Lord Muria's transformation, you would never have seen them. Unless the world's laws collapse, these cloud islands will never fall. Do you understand?"

"I understand," Frostfang took a deep breath. He had heard the laughter from the floating ships after he asked his question. It was a mockery of his query. Frostfang vowed that this was the most humiliating moment of his life, but he had to endure it. These were his "companions," and attacking them would violate some law and lead to negative consequences.

"Move forward!"

...

"All three tribes, totaling ten thousand frost giants, are now gathered," Muria looked around the dense circle of frost giants outside the Ice Valley and nodded in satisfaction. The first step of his plan had begun.

"The audience is in place, so let's begin!" Muria whispered, as if giving an order to someone.

Boom! Boom!... Ten beams of light shot from Synapse above, landing in the lifeless Ice Valley. The area surrounded by hundred-meter-high ice cliffs disappeared without any shockwave, leaving a ten-meter-deep, neat pit.

"Watch closely. This is the technology you frost giants will need to master in the future," Muria said, appearing silently beside the three legendary frost giant chiefs who had instinctively gathered. On his shoulder, a cold crow quietly observed everything.

After flattening the gathering place of a frost giant tribe, another fleet flew out from Synapse. Compared to the floating warships that led the frost giants, this fleet of ships looked bloated— it was a transport fleet.

Under the curious, surprised, and envious eyes of the frost giants, these floating ships landed, and one after another, half-human, half-spider engineering metal golems descended. They extended their mechanical arms and began excavation work in the newly formed pit.

"Lord Muria, what are they doing?" Coldwing, the leader of the Cold Crow tribe, asked with respect and curiosity about the magical industrial civilization's engineering golems.

"Building a city for you frost giants to live in!"
