Chapter 324

Once the light was sucked out, the space became void of any life. The illusion had broken down and all that was left were her own memories locked behind the mist. Violet felt like she was buried under the mountain as the weight of reality hit her.

"Haaaaaaaaah," she took a deep breath, sucking in the cold air that froze her lungs. The thin chain around her neck was now empty as the bright red gem shattered a while ago. She missed the source of warmth that kept her heart safe, but something else embraced her as the heated cloak.

The deep lake was gone when she opened her eyes again and the world was unrecognizable. Trees stood like charred sentinels. The acrid scent of smoke and the eerie silence that enveloped her were the first indicators that something was terribly wrong.
