Life in the Heathfield Duchy (2)

Not long after getting my horse ready, we are now treading our way to Willtop. Wisteria Is the capital of the Heathfield duchy and thus you would see everything here like shops, sword smiths, groceries and others. But the duchy is one big place.

The Heathfield duchy occupies one fourth of the main continent. The majority is under the Draconian Empire. The duchy itself seemed rather rural compared to the empire. It is more province like from the memories I have inherited from Rosaline.

Willtop as they call it is atop of a hill overlooking the whole of Wisteria. This would be my first time coming to this place, but there was a scene in the game where the male protagonist and the female love interest has a scene in this same spot. It was in an essence an adult scene but of course it won't be shown in the game. But the thought of the place and the two people before me are merging, which seemed off seeing as they are still minors as of now.

'Think of other things…' I willed myself. 'Think of other things…'

We are thru thru the beautiful landscape of Wisteria. The weather was getting cold because autumn had just started.

"Look, we are nearing Willtop." Hilna excitedly said.

Not long we came to a place overlooking the whole of Wisteria. It was such a spectacular place.

"Isn't it beautiful Rose?" Hilna asked me excitedly. "This is one of my most favorite place in the whole of Wisteria."

I looked at the scenery with my very own eyes. I know that the game had great CGI and graphics, but nothing could beat seeing this scenery personally.

"It's beautiful." I exclaimed.

"I am glad you like it." Vladford said. "From here you could see the Heathfield estate there."

The male protagonist pointed the position from where we are standing.

"That there would be your new estate." Vladford pointed out. "At your right, you could see the narrow sea. The port of Ebony would be situated there." He further explained.

I was listening attentively while the male lead was showing me key points in the land before me.

"Here, you can use this." Jacob handed me a telescope. "You can see more closely with it."

"Thank you." I replied with a smile.

I looked at the telescope and saw Wisteria in a closer look from above. It was like I was looking at the map on my game settings and it made me smile seeing it up close and personal.

"When spring comes Wisteria flowers will start to bloom all over Wisteria. It will be a sight to behold." Hilna said.

"I will take you back here again when the flowers start to bloom." Vladford said. "I promise." He smiled.

*ARF ARF ARF*

We were surprised to hear a barking of a pup nearby. Once we turned around we saw the Fenrir pup that we save from the snow wolves attack.

"How did you get here?" I asked while it was running towards me. It jumped to my arms and started licking my face. "Hahaha, all right… all right. We will not leave you again." I exclaimed while feeling ticklish with his licking.

"Maybe it did not want being left behind." Jacob said. "Fenrir pups are very devoted once it has chosen a master. And it looks like it has chosen you, Rose."

"Me?" I was surprised. "But why me?"

"Maybe because you did not abandon it when he needed help." Vladford replied. "Whatever the reason, it has chosen you. Have you thought of a name for him?" He asked.

"A name?" I was at a loss. I did not expect to name a mythical beast at all. "I am not sure. How about you Vlad. Can you think of a name?" I asked.

"Hmm…" Vladford was deep in thought. "How about Van? A great Fenrir companion to the hero Sansbard the great."

*ARF*

The Fenrir pup seemed to like it.

"Then Van it would be." I smiled.

The small pup jumped down from my arms and twirled around happily on the grass. He was running here and there.

"Don't go near the edge, Van." I called out.

"He would become a great companion once he matures." Vladford said to me. "I hope you will like it here in the duchy."

"I am already liking it." I said. "I would like to know about the duchy more. I would like to know of you more." I said straightforwardly.

"We have all the time we want." Vladford said to me. "I will show you all of the duchy of Heathfield and make sure you will love it here."

"I am looking forward to it." I replied with a smile.

"Hey Vlad…Rose!" Hilna called out. "Look over there." She pointed.

With the telescope that Jacob lent, I looked at the direction that Hilna pointed. I saw the convoy of my father at the outskirts of the capital.

"Its my father and yours Vlad." I said.

"It looks like they have made it to the edge of the capital." Vladford said. "My father had escorted them out of the capital. Now your father's convoy will be on their way."

"It would take long until he reached our the empire." I said.

"Will you not miss your home?" Vladford asked. "Well… we do not have parties and such here in Wisteria." He asked rather awkwardly.

"What do you mean?" I asked out of curiosity.

"What I mean is, well…" Vladford was reluctant to ask. "Well my mother like you, came from the empire. And she had expressed hardly how life here is much different from the empire's capital."

Then I remembered the game's opening story. The male protagonist's mother was married to the duke of Heathfield as an arranged marriage. She had never liked Heathfield even after getting married and giving birth to the male protagonist. She had no love for her husband or her son, not even this place she is called as a duchess. Actually, she plays a special part for the start of the male protagonist's hardships.

"I am not yet of age to attend parties, so I am not sure about those things." I replied. "As for socializin with other noble children in the empire… I will say it is much more fun going out with you guys. It is more of an adventure." I smiled whole heartedly.

"R-Really?" Vladford asked and I nodded instantly.

"See, what did I tell you." Hilna said with a smile. "Rose will be much more happy with us rather than in those boring tea parties. Right, Rose."

"Of course." I nodded in agreement.

The male protagonist seemed much more happy hearing that I would rather spend time with them rather than socializing. Seeing as how cold his mother is to him, maybe he thought I would be the same once we get married.

'Well, maybe the original Rosaline would have been the same.' I thought to myself. 'But not me.'

I was then troubled with the fact of knowing the flow of the story of the gane. I have vowed to help avert the ending where the male protagonist will risk his life to save the world. But I cannot interfere with the flow of the main story if I want this world to be saved. I am conflicted on what to do now that I have become closer to the main characters of the game.
