Chapter 12: Conflict

The rain itself wasn't hard but partnered with the freezing weather it was hell frozen over, but my rage against Cain pushes my endurance further.

"Hah, well so you know, I'm doing fine."

Cain snickered and he backed off, giving me the middle finger before leaving as he laughed maniacally.

"Haha, happy to see that you're fine, but I wonder, have you gotten over the loop? Probably not, haha!"

There are only a few people who knew that I started playing World of Fantasy, and one of them was Cain which is annoying, when I died for the 50th time in the game I theorized that it was Cain and his guild doing the reason why I keep on dying in the first place.

I turned around my mood worsened after meeting up with him, I went back into my house and Mathilda already had a fresh new set of clothes and towel on hand.

"Thanks."

"Don't worry young master, we'll take our revenge soon."

Mathilda bowed her head as I went away to take a bath, arrange some information about the game, then head to sleep…

The next day…

[Welcome back!]

I gazed around the serene [Town of Genesis], just as peaceful as ever. With the night setting in, the town offered a sense of tranquility, allowing me to explore its alleys and streets without restraint. The glow of streetlights illuminated the pathways, guiding my way. Inns were alive with activity, bustling with guests seeking rest after their day's adventures. The bars were buzzing with life, filled with people finding comfort in the company of fellow travelers, all while relishing their favorite drinks. Even as the day turned to night, the town remained vibrant. Though the number of street vendors had dwindled since morning, a few dedicated souls persevered, tempting passersby with mouthwatering street food. It was a lively scene, and I couldn't help but soak in the atmosphere as I strolled through the charming streets of the [Town of Genesis].

"Ah, to feel nothing again, what a horrendous feeling."

I went around town checking some spots out and mapping the entire area, for my escape, and which places I should avoid when I start my murdering spree of heroes.

In the [Town of Genesis], most Heroes fall within the levels 8 to 16 range. However, the true powerhouses among them are concentrated within the Silver Feather Guild. I can only imagine the chaos that would ensue if news spread about the skull-masked man's appearance in town. The Silver Feather Guild would undoubtedly go into a frenzy, swiftly locking down the entire area.

"Hmm, mister, you kind of suspicious."

I looked behind me and saw a girl with crazed eyes peering into mine. She wore a trench coat with shoulder guards, and a leather tunic beneath the trench coat, her gold hair tied to a ponytail, and her ruby red eyes gleaming.

"And you are?"

I looked right above the head of the girl and there were no nametags or level indicators, so either she's an npc or someone who hid their information. The girl chuckled to herself as she looked at all the equipment I currently have.

"Haha, if you want to hide that ring, then you need to do a better job."

The ring I got from the death of that captain back in the kobold cave. There's a chance that she's from the Silver Feather Guild, or is a friend of that one fellow, but what irks me more is the crazed look in her eyes, but since there's no indication that she's a player killer, then this situation makes it more dangerous.

"Friend or enemy?"

"Oh my, so… cautious, but I'm a friend, also I'm quite elated to hear the news of the mockingbird party dying in a low-level dungeon."

So their party is called the Mockingbird. Other than that she seems to be an enemy of the Silver Feather Guild, but it seems like she's just waiting for the moment to strike them.

"Are you sure that you'll win against the Silver Feather?"

She tilted her head and got closer to me as she asked that question to me. I thought about it. Having an ally wouldn't be so bad, but having an unstable ally would be quite bad in the long run.

"Well, I don't have to be alone. Nice to meet you. I'm Azrael, and you are?"

"I am, Sumire. Nice to meet you, so what's the plan?"

Sumire stood by my side and elbowed my ribs. As I shared my plan with her, I couldn't help but notice her lack of reaction to the idea of mass murder. I questioned whether it was simply because it's all just a game to her, or if she might be one of those individuals who, though they may be sociopathic in real life, channel their frustrations and emotions within the game. It left me feeling perplexed about her true nature.

"This is a nice plan! To cause this much carnage in just a single day!"

She's overjoyed by the plan and is cheering out loud, making a commotion. As we continued talking, I noticed a few people giving us strange looks, likely because of the conversation they overheard. However, they quickly dismissed it, likely attributing it to some eccentric players in the game who exhibit "8th grader syndrome," also known as chuunibyou.

"When do we start?"

"Now."

Sumire's grin widened, and she immediately disappeared into the crowd. The first part of the plan, it's causing a series of "accidents" first in one of the biggest bars and establishments using fine flour to create dust explosions, but since that won't exactly kill most of the players there, I can just go in and sweep up the remaining players.

*BOOM*

That's my cue, I wore the Skull Mask, and I used [Shadow Step] to boost my speed as I ran straight into the first settlement, aiming for the first few victims, with this I can probably speed through my quest.
