Emergency Situation

Disrupting their peaceful walks was a city guard on the side, screaming about an attack.

Blake and Tara snapped their heads to the side in response.

Similarly, the other dwellers of Einora City which consist mainly of Elves were surprised when they heard the city guard announcing that the city is under attack. It was too sudden, none of them expected that the day would play out differently than normal.

More city guards started to rush over to the wooden walls to intercept the abrupt attack.

On the other hand, the civilians quickly went to safety.

In a moment, the city started to turn into chaos as the people were shocked by the sudden attack in day time. Some of the city guards asked those who are able to fight to help in defending the city, the attack should be a heavy one judging from that.

Most of the abled people take their families to safety first before rushing to help.

Einora City is not as developed as Carymount City, the guards here are not well-armored and have an average of around level 30. In addition, there were not many of them too which is quite worrying for Blake.

"An attack...? In a novice city? How is this normal?"

"It's not normal, this side of the Elven Kingdom should be quite peaceful"

Considering that Einora City is one of the novice cities for players that probably chose Elf as their starting race, it was surprising for Blake to find that this kind of city is still susceptible to a random attack.

Tara even confirms that it should be relatively safe.

But Blake quickly snapped out of his reverie feeling the ground shaking a little.

Surely, the beast horde is nearing the city and it wouldn't take long before it finally hits. The shaking ground already showcases the number of beasts in this beast horde, it's definitely a massive one.

"I'll go get Lady Linthia and Angel, we'll meet up on the walls to help defend the city"

"Okay, don't take too long"

Nodding her head, Tara dashes to the side in order to pick up Linthia as well as Angel.

Although it would be best for them to join the fight against the beast horde to increase their level further, it's also dangerous for them. Blake and Angel would be fine, but Tara and Linthia are not.

If they die, then they would actually die.

On the other hand, Blake decided to check the situation and dashes away.

[Emergency Quest has been initiated!]

[Quest - Beast Horde]

Defend Einora City from the corrupted beast horde that will hit in approximately 5 minutes!

Rewards: Will be calculated after the situation is de-escalated.

Upon seeing the system prompt that appeared in front of him, Blake smiled instead of panicking like the other civilians of the city because any adversaries such as this will present an opportunity instead.

If he could do well, then he might get massive rewards.

Just from the thought of it alone, he was excited, and he checked his status window first.

Blake's stats has experienced a number of changes from his grind with the others.

Reaching level 49 sparks a huge increase in his stats that has been looking quite deadly. Additionally, he spent all of the 54 stat points that he gained from leveling up. 14 goes to vitality stat while the rest goes to his strength stat that has been lagging behind.

His equipment didn't change much except now he's using the Shadow Trinity sword.

Shadow Trinity gives him +40 STR and +60 AGI alongside a skill called Dark Blast. If he activates the skill, his next attack will explode and deals magical damage as well as have the chance to cause corrosion.

It's a neat effect that deals damage over time and also reduces the durability of equipment.

On top of that, his skills also got stronger.

Body Control, Basic Sword Proficiency, and Battle Perception experienced the most changes.

Due to his constant grind and fighting, these skills advanced further.

None of these skills were obtained through the skill tree, and thus skill points couldn't affect their masteries and evolution. It was only from constant usage of it and training that these skills got substantially stronger.

Since Blake grinds alongside the others, two of the three skills evolved.

The first one to evolve is the Body Control skill which has now turned into Body Harmony, a B-grade passive skill that makes his movement flow faster. Next in line is the Basic Sword Proficiency, it's now evolved into Advanced Sword Proficiency, a B-grade passive skill.

It's self-explanatory, his abilities in using the sword have now become way better.

Lastly, his Battle Perception has been increased to level 4, nearing the edge of evolution.

After checking his status window and finding confidence in himself, he followed where the mass of city guards, adventurers, and other able civilians rushing towards and found himself near the wooden walls that protected the city.

Blake didn't go through the gate and instead, jumped on the wall to get a better view.

Many city guards with bows and crossbows could be seen on the walls, readying themselves for the upcoming beast horde. A couple of captains are leading them, but Blake ignores them to see what he will be dealing with.

Knowing his enemies would definitely help him fight them.

Gazing at the far distance near the end of the forest, he could already see the birds flying away as dust and the sound of a march passes through them. It's definitely the beast horde charging toward the city, scaring the faunas inside the forest.

Even though they were still hidden in the forest right now, their presence is already real.

Between the end of the forest and the city is a shallow river.

It's a river that was located about a hundred to two hundred meters from the city wall, and that shallow river acted as a line that would be the signal for the archers on the city wall that the beast horde is in range, and it's time to launch their volleys.

Frowning for a second in expectant of the beast horde, his eyes then shifted elsewhere.

Right in front of the city, sticking out like a sore thumb were a couple of figures in armor. Each of them is sticking out because of the fact that there was no fear in their eyes, and they even stand at the very front.

While the civilians were making a barricade formation with their shields, these figures didn't.

Just the way they act alone tells Blake what they are.

"Players..."

Knowing that if they died here then they wouldn't die for real, these players stand at the very front. Similar to Blake's point of view, these players thought the beast horde was nothing but an opportunity for them.

It's good that they would be able to gain many experience from this event.

Although Blake wanted to jump right beside them to be at the frontline, he couldn't do something that reckless. If he did that then he would be exposing his game tag to them, and these players would either try to fight him or stick to him.

With Linthia, Tara, and Angel at his party, he couldn't afford to have more unnecessary ones.

Just as he thought of that, another system prompt appeared.

[Privileged Quest (PK) - Backstabber]

Kill 5 Players during the confrontation against the beast horde without being caught!

Rewards: 100 Privileged Points and 5 Basic Player Souls

[Bonus Race Quest has been initiated!]

[Race Quest - Ghost of Battle]

As a Spectral Vampire, your pride will not allow you to perform worse than lesser creatures in a battle that is filled with blood. But your love for solitude prevents you from wanting to stick out. Contribute the most in the fight against the beast horde without anyone noticing!

Rewards: 15 Racial Skill Points

Upon seeing the two prompts from the system, Blake couldn't stop his smile from appearing.

It seems on top of gaining the direct benefits of being a Privileged Player and also having an EX-grade race, he also gained another benefit, gaining these wonderful quests that he could complete to gain massive rewards.

The Emergency Quest was surely given to all people, but these two are solely for him.

'I know about Privileged Points and Racial Skill Points, but Basic Player Soul...? I don't know what that is, however, that item sounded strong. I need to get it!' Blake thought excitedly, this is going to help him get stronger fairly quicker.

Blake knows that the stronger he gets here, then the stronger he will be in the real world.

A while ago he remembers Salana saying that the integrations should start a month after the Lunaris game was launched, and due to his EX-grade race, the integration happened to him faster and makes him stronger.

Just from that alone, he has a massive advantage against other people.

Now that he knows Ghouls and Vampires exist, it's not a stretch to assume that they were also playing the Lunaris Game. If they were already this strong, then when the integration starts, they would be even stronger.

Before that happens, he needs to make sure that he settled the matters with them.

Due to that, time is not on his side right now. It becomes a must for him to get stronger and confront the Ghouls and Vampires as soon as possible. The argument with Salana made him more conscious of the danger of his situation.

If the Inevitable Apocalypse is that deadly, then he would need to get stronger quicker.

No matter what, he would fulfill his promises.

'On top of my promise to Salana, I also promised Father that I'm going to help Mother and sister financially as well as physically. In order to do that, I need to become strong. No matter what, I need to succeed'

'For the sake of them...'
