Chapter 133: Hating to be Lied to

In the early morning, Xiao Yan's internal clock woke him up. He slowly opened his eyes and found himself facing Xiao Yixian.

It seems like I've been waking up to the same scene every day these past few days...

With this thought in mind, Xiao Yan smiled and greeted Xiao Yixian.

"Xiao Yixian, good morning!"

"Mm, good morning." Xiao Yixian nodded lightly, straightening her slender waist and looking at Xiao Yan's face. "I really wish you could keep sleeping like this."

"Huh?"

Just as Xiao Yan was about to sit up from the sofa, he suddenly froze and stared blankly at Xiao Yixian.

What does she mean by that?

Xiao Yan raised an eyebrow in confusion but didn't dwell on it. He got up to freshen up.

During his morning routine, Yao Chen inside the ring let out a deep sigh.

(Ah...)

(Senior Yao, good morning.) Xiao Yan frowned, (Why are you sighing so early in the morning?)

(Kid, you sleep so soundly that you don't even react when you're taken advantage of.)

(Huh? Taken advantage of? Who took advantage of me?)

Xiao Yan asked in confusion, but Yao Chen didn't bother explaining further. Instead, he asked:

(Xiao Yan, what do you think of that Yun Ying?)

(He's a very nice person, and our discussions have cleared up many of my doubts. Meeting him is my good fortune.)

Xiao Yan replied without hesitation.

During these three days of travel, Yun Ying had actively sought out Xiao Yan for discussions about righteousness. In the process, Xiao Yan had gained insights into aspects he had previously overlooked. The comfort he felt while talking with Yun Ying reminded him of his time with Yun Zhi, even though the two individuals had completely different personalities.

If Yun Zhi silently supported him from behind, then Yun Ying was someone who would work side by side, striving to achieve their shared ideals. Xiao Yan found this particularly appealing.

Furthermore, unlike Yun Zhi, Xiao Yan and Yun Ying were evenly matched in strength. Xiao Yan didn't sense any arrogance or hidden identity differences in Yun Ying's words and actions.

"It's a pity," Xiao Yan sighed, "if I were a woman, or if Yun Ying were a woman, I would immediately propose to him."

Xiao Yan expressed this ridiculous thought but quickly dismissed it. After all, he didn't have that kind of inclination.

However, even though they couldn't become a couple, making such a good friend was a rare treasure for Xiao Yan.

After listening to Xiao Yan, Yao Chen, inside the ring, deeply furrowed her brow.

Xiao Yan had his memories wiped, so he didn't know, but Yao Chen remembered very clearly.

Evenly matched in strength? Are you kidding me? Yun Ying is someone who could have easily crushed her even if she were in her prime!

But even though Yun Ying was such a formidable expert, she still spent her time and came to discuss righteousness with Xiao Yan every day. Was that reasonable?

Every time Yun Ying knocked on the door, Yao Chen would tremble slightly in fear. Deep down, she felt a sense of dread.

What does she want to do, exactly?

Yao Chen sighed deeply within herself.

This was what they called the fear of the unknown, right?

Yao Chen had been worried and anxious all day because of Yun Ying, while Xiao Yan was delighted by Yun Ying's visits.

It was the same thing happening, involving the same person. But people's feelings and reactions were not the same.

Yao Chen had even received a warning from Yun Ying. If Xiao Yan ever found out that he had met Yun Ying before, both of them would disappear from this world forever.

So, the fear and anxiety were only Yao Chen's burden to bear.

After finishing his morning routine, Xiao Yan walked out of the washroom. Xiao Yixian was perched by the window, and she waved at him.

"Xiao Yan, we're about to land."

"Finally!" Xiao Yan joined Xiao Yixian, gazing outside at the endless golden landscape. He couldn't help but exclaim, "Is this the Tager Desert? It's really just all sand."

Hearing Xiao Yan's comment, Xiao Yixian couldn't help but roll her eyes.

"Obviously, it's a desert. What else would it be, a water paradise?"

"..."

Xiao Yan awkwardly scratched his face, realizing he had stated the obvious.

A little over ten minutes later, the massive winged beast began to descend, and the ground grew closer. With a slight jolt, the journey came to a smooth landing.

"Let's go, we're getting off."

"Okay."

Xiao Yan waved at Xiao Yixian, who nodded. After a quick freshening up, they left the room together. As Xiao Yan was about to cross the corridor, he noticed the closed door of the room opposite. He furrowed his brows slightly.

Since that day, there had been no activity from those people. They had been unusually quiet.

Xiao Yan had initially been worried that they might surround Yun Ying once the winged beast landed, but it seemed there were no signs of that happening?

Xiao Yan shook his head lightly, and with Xiao Yixian, they exited the building. Just as they were descending the steps, Xiao Yan caught sight of Yun Ying standing not far away, fanning himself with a paper fan and waving at them.

"Xiao Yan."

"Brother Yun!"

Seeing Yun Ying, a smile immediately appeared on Xiao Yan's face. He greeted him with a warm smile and then glanced around before curiously asking Yun Ying, "Brother Yun, did those people cause you any trouble?"

"Huh? Xiao Yan, you mean..."

Yun Ying first froze, her eyes filled with confusion. It wasn't an act; she genuinely hadn't realized who Xiao Yan was referring to. Or perhaps, she had completely forgotten about the existence of those people.

After a moment, Yun Ying suddenly realized and replied, "Oh, them. They left as soon as they landed."

"Is that so?"

Xiao Yan nodded knowingly. While he hadn't heard any commotion from the opposite room when they left, he trusted Yun Ying's words.

"Xiao Yan, I would really like to travel with you a little longer, but there are important matters to attend to. Farewell for now."

"Uh..."

Xiao Yan was slightly surprised, and his instinct was to try and convince Yun Ying to stay. Yun Ying was the first person willing to engage in discussions about righteousness with him, and Xiao Yan treasured that. He remembered when he parted ways with Yun Zhi, he didn't feel this reluctant.

However, even though he felt reluctant, Xiao Yan wasn't the type to force someone to stay for his own selfish desires. He relaxed his demeanor and smiled, clasping his fists and bowing to Yun Ying.

"Then, Brother Yun, until we meet again!"

"Until we meet again!"

Yun Ying returned the gesture with a bow and then turned to leave, gradually disappearing from Xiao Yan's view.

"Come back to reality; they've gone quite far," Xiao Yixian said indignantly as she pulled Xiao Yan in the opposite direction.

She was starting to wonder if Xiao Yan had developed some kind of hidden desire!

After Xiao Yan and Xiao Yixian left, Yun Ying, who had bid them farewell, stood on top of a sand dune. A shadow suddenly appeared behind her and knelt on the ground. Yun Ying didn't turn her head and calmly gave her command.

"Go and investigate thoroughly, from beginning to end, the Xiao Clan in Wutan City and all of Xiao Yan's past deeds."

"Yes!"

The shadow responded firmly, and Yun Ying gently turned her head. Her crimson childlike pupils were filled with cold indifference as she cautioned, "Remember, you're only allowed to investigate. No matter what you find, you are not to take any action."

"Understood!"

The shadow immediately disappeared, and Yun Ying slowly turned around, gazing at Xiao Yan's receding figure in the distance. She gently unfolded the paper fan in her hand.

"Xiao Yan, I hope everything you've told me is the truth," Yun Ying squinted her eyes slightly, and they gleamed with a crimson light. "I really hate it when people lie to me."
