The Master's Offsprings

Faster than my brain could keep up, my legs were already making their way towards Myst's chamber.

My heart beating hard and fast in my chest, with Kylan and Holden close behind. I push the doors open before I can even process my actions.

Right there, on the king sized bed, there lay my sister... Myst.

I stand there frozen, unable to believe she was awake. There she was seated, staring out into space.

I don't know why, but my legs suddenly feel heavy leaded. "Myst," Kylan rasps from behind me, drawing her attention back to reality.

I remain transfixed as her eyes meet mine, distant yet present all at once. Then they shift to the guys behind me, before landing on Kylan who had stepped forward.

"You're awake." He says softly, voice shaking. Her eyes begin to tear up, as a small weak smile makes it's way to her lips.

"I am." She rasps, and everything happens so fast, Kylan rushes towards her and engulfs her in a hug.

She blinks back the tears threatening to spill from her royal blue eyes as she wraps her arms around him.

Then she turns to my direction where I'm still frozen with overwhelming emotions. "Won't you give me a hug, sister?" She asks, stretching her hand towards me. Like words of hope they break through my trance. And tears which I didn't realize I was holding run down my face, as a sob escapes my throat.

I run towards her and wrap my arms around her, just as Kylan releases her. I bury my face in her neck. "You scared me." I whisper into her hair as I hold her close.

"I'm sorry." She whispers back, rubbing a hand against my head.

"I don't know what I'd have done, if you didn't.." I inhale deeply, holding unto her more tightly than before.

"I'm sorry, I'm fine..." she sniffles mid way, "and I'm here... okay? I won't leave you behind." She says with conviction as she pulls away from the hug and looks me in the eyes. Placing her hands on each side of my face, framing it.

"We're in this together, you're not getting rid of me that easily." She jokes and I nod, a stiffled sob leaving my throat as a weak smile graces my lips.

She wipes my tears and I wipe mine. "We're sisters, and we won't leave each other." I say after a huge in take of breath. And she smiles nodding, "it's a promise." And I nod, "it is."

----

After my brief discussion with Myst, I leave her to rest, and Kylan stays back to watch over her. Holden walks by my side, present but not saying a word.

I'm still shaken up from earlier. I hadn't cried like that in a while. I didn't realize how much I was holding back, how much pain I was in until I saw her.

Myst.

Alive, awake... and fine.

Then I felt my emotions hit me in full force for the first time. All the fears which I tried to hide behind close doors, all the hurt I tried to bury in the darket and deepest parts of my memory all came spilling out in that moment.

Tears I didn't know I was holding back, and pain which weighed me down.

It does feel good to let it out, which makes me wonder, what else I was probably holding back.

I feel Holden's hand brush mine, and it takes me by surprise. Causing me to stiffen, I turn and look up at him. His eyes stare deeply into mine, and my eyes widen in realization. "Can I hold you?... just for a minute." He says softly, and before my brain can process it, I nod.

Slowly, he wraps his arms around me, pulling me into his embrace. It takes me some seconds to recover, before I slowly wraps my arms around him. Slowly, I relax into his embrace, burying my face in his chest as I breathe him in.

Surprisingly, his scent calms me down. Soon, he pulls back, and I find mysslf missing his warmth. I look up into his eyes, and the emoions I see there are difficult to name. But the one which stands out more out of them all, is restraint.

The reason, I didn't know.

"Goodnight." He whispers with a small smile, slipping his hands into his pockets before turning around and making his way to his chamber.

I remain standing for a while, before turning to get into mine. But halt, when i hear whispers. I gravitate towards the source, and find a familiar group of people standing together.

I recognized them as Lugard's minions.

I couldn't make out the words they were saying, but just as I give up and turn around to leave.

I hear one say, "I heard the master has been looking for his lost children for years now." One says, "but rumours has it that they're dead now." Another counters.

"But some poeple say he's finally found them." Another voice speaks up, "no one knows what they look like or who they are, so its difficult to tell." Another voice says, words resigned.

And it hits me, as I stumble back to my chambers.

'The master's children... who are they?' I think to myself.
