CHAPTER 60

( Flashback - Two Days After The Event )

A figure can be seen hiding in an abandoned building. The figure was dressed in white, but the clothes were tattered and torn. The figure who was hiding had an anxious expression in her eyes.

Indeed, this figure was the crow-masked woman whom Mikael interrogated before in the snowy forest. But right now, she was hiding, cowering, with fear visible across her face.

"Did he follow me here? Where is he? I'm sure I saw him..." she murmured while looking out the window with uneasiness in her eyes. She has gone everywhere to hide, and every time she closes her eyes, she sees the glistening crimson eyes, staring at her as if she were being stared at by death itself.

She had decided to stay temporarily at this abandoned house. But before long, she suddenly had a look of realization on her face and panicked, "I-I have to report this! I haven't told them about what happened, especially the vice leader of The Daggers. I haven't told her about the leader..."

She glanced around once more to make sure that she was not being watched. She then opened the window and leapt over it.

A few minutes later, she arrived at the Nocturnals bookstore. However, after she arrived, the bookstore was eerily quiet, with no customers in sight, nor the usual cashier at the front. She simply shook her head and didn't think too much about it. So she proceeded to her destination with a visible frown on her face.

She entered the chamber and walked straight towards the middle room, not noticing the gazes from her fellow vampires that were directed at her. She didn't even realize that her colleagues from The Eyes were also present, some of whom had a pitiful look while watching her, while others had anger visible on their faces.

With uneasiness on her eyes, she didn't just barged in and instead she knocked on the door.

"Come in..." the voice from inside the room said. When she heard the voice from the room, her body immediately tensed up, as if someone had poured cold, freezing Arctic water on her.

She opened the door shakily, and the first thing she noticed was a woman wearing a crow mask, different from her, and white clothes sitting in the middle of the room, while sipping on freshly squeezed blood. On her left was the vice leader of The Daggers, and on her right was the vice leader of The Eyes, wearing a smaller crow mask.

The woman in the middle was none other than her boss, The Eyes' leader.

"L-Lady Raven..." She stuttered while greeting her boss.

She bowed to her for a second and immediately went straight to her boss, without greeting her colleagues, and said with a hasty tone, "Lady, I have to report something important! Something terrible just happened on the mission and-"

Before she could even finish her sentence, the vice leader of The Eyes raised her hand, indicating her to stop speaking. She nodded and tightly shut her mouth while waiting for her boss to speak.

Lady Raven put down her glass of blood and said, "I'm aware of everything, but tell me what you have to say."

She nodded and for the next thirty minutes or so, she explained everything that she had experienced, from the beginning to the end, from the big things to the smaller things, and every detail she didn't miss out from her report.

"...And when I opened my eyes, he was suddenly gone! I didn't want to take any chances because I'm afraid that he'll go back on his word, so I immediately ran from the scene."

When she was about to continue, Lady Raven suddenly stood up and moved closer to her until she was in front of her. So she obviously stopped her report and looked at her boss with a confused expression on her face.

"Cherlyene..." Lady Raven called her with a soothing voice and placed her hand on her cheeks.

"Y-Yes, my Lady?" Cherlyene said with a nervous and confused tone.

"You know what happened to the one who betrayed us?" Lady Raven said with a calm tone while staring straight into Cherlyene's eyes.

Cherlyene had a look of realization across her face, and a second later, she wore a regretful and sad expression. She then answered, "Yes, my Lady..."

Lady Raven suddenly hugged her and whispered, "They demand order, and I will ensure it."

Cherlyene nodded in understanding and she slowly knelt down in front of Lady Raven. Lady Raven then said, "Do you have something to say?"

When Lady Raven said that, Cherlyene suddenly remembered her past before she was turned into a vampire. She remembered her parents, who had left her before she turned ten years old. She became a nomadic vampire until she joined the organization and entered The Eyes division.

Cherlyene then looked straight at Lady Raven with clear eyes and said,

"I have served, and I will forever be of service."

"May The Blood Guide Us All."

Cherlyene said her final words, and Lady Raven promptly took action. She placed her hand on Cherlyene's head and, with her strength, forcefully separated it from her body.

She looked at her former member's head and said,

"You have served us well, and we will never forget your service."

"May The Blood Guide Us All."

After that, she put the head on the table and immediately left the room, followed by her members and heading out of the store.

Meanwhile, still in the same room. The vice leader of the Daggers who had lost her soul mate, stood still and didn't utter any word until she suddenly screams.

"AHHHHHH..."

She screamed so loudly that the vampires who were left in the chamber had no choice but to leave her alone. Anger and agony consumed her, causing her to break everything in front of her - tables, chairs, and papers.

Even Cherlyene's remains didn't escape her anger, and her head was thrown beneath the table. After ten minutes, she managed to calm herself down, but her eyes still held a vengeful and hateful look.

"Mikael Godfrey!!!"
