"So, I guess, this is where we split up?"
"Pretty much yea. If you change your decision or anything, just send me whisper, ok?"
"Don't worry. I will manage."
Moments later.
Alarn Town – Public Blacksmith.
(Kitty and Hype gave me some of their money to buy some materials. Using that money, I bought the copper ores and I rented the basic tools from the NPC. I think I should get starting.)
"[Blacksmithing]."
[Blacksmithing Knowledge] is the skill that gives you manual about crafting. It gives you information about how to control temperature, how to strike with hammer and other stuff, pretty much it gives you all basic knowledge about blacksmithing. This skill records anything you made in the past and what materials were used for the said item, my sharp stick is recorded for example in here.
Honestly, I never did any blacksmithing in my life and I don't know the crafting works in this world really. It's true that I have free information from [Blacksmithing Knowledge], but I wanted to see how few things out before I start crafting for real.
Skill [Wood Carving], a basic [Blacksmith] skill that has two effects. The passive effects helps me when I craft anything using wood, cut it or carve the stuff from it or on it. The active version uses my MP to increase the passive effect, I can chose how much I want to use MP while using the skill, changing the skill performance.
First, I wanted to see what would happened if I do this half assed and stuff. I wanted to see if it all depends on the skills and I don't have to put any real effort into it. The results were this.
[Poorly Made Sharp Stick] [Attack Power: 2]
Pretty much I ended up being worse version of the normal sharp stick and I tried doing that multiple times. Pretty much each stick ended up in failure. This proven that using skills alone, won't work and you need to focus and pay attention.
Next, I then tried using carving the stick, without using the active skill. It obviously took longer, but I ended up making the basic version of the sharp stick without any down sides.
The third test I did with sharp stick was: what would happened if I made a mistake? First, I tried not cutting of the twinges and this resulted in [Sharp Sticks with Twinges] with attack power: 2. I also tried not sharpening the weapon or cutting too much from the stick, those ended up with creating failures version as well with lover attack power or with lower durability.
Mistakes, not making it correctly and other errors during production, may influence the item performance in different ways. It's good thing I confirmed that before crafting anything using copper ore I got since they cost money unlike the sticks you can just pick up from anywhere.
"Okay, wood checked, the ores checked, tools checked. Okay, I think it's time that I finally try making stuff for real."
(The first item I want to create using copper ore, the copper ore wasn't in the game before, but it can be used to make stuff and its affordable right now for me to buy it. It should be good for the start.)
First, smelt the copper of so you can make a copper bars.
After your bars are created, head the top part of it, before then striking with hammer repeatedly. Repeat over and over until the shape of the bar changed into shape you look for.
([Blacksmith] skill, [Basic Blacksmithing] is a skill that helps you in basic blacksmith work like hammering the steal, smelting and other stuff. Thanks to that skill, the crafting process is done way faster and easier, but as said before I can't solely relay on it or I will obviously end up failing.)
Next step and finally step including the blade is sharpening the blade. You can either use the grinding wheel or whetstones.
[Badly Made Copper Sword Blade]
"Well, it would way too easy if I manage on my first try."
(Let's try again.)
[Badly Made Copper Sword Blade]
(Again.)
[Badly Made Copper Sword Blade]
"Fuck me. It's not easy." – said Forge after falling multiple times over.
(But, it's bloody interesting!)
Even if I have the knowledge from [Blacksmithing Knowledge], I can tell it's not enough. I need an experience, I need to learn and improve. Step by step, learn and get closer.
"I'm not bloody giving up until I see the results I want!"
Forge speeded hours in the smith, learning from his mistakes each time he failed and understanding how exactly each step worked. He repeat the process over and over again, gaining knowledge each time.
Many tries and failures later.
[Copper Sword Blade]
"I finally made a proper one!"
(I made the blade properly this time, but for some reason, I fell both satisfaction and something else.)
(I…I don't know why, but for some reason I think I'm missing something. The blade was made properly this times, but even so I can tell that its wrong? Am I overthinking things?)
Suddenly a door opened and Hype with Kitty appeared.
"Sup." – said Hype.
"Oh, hey. Do you want something guys?"
"Well, we came to buy some potions before we go hunting again. Along the way we decided to see what are you doing."
"Honestly speaking, I'm still trying to get it. I just finally mange to make a first proper blade after many tries. Anyway, you are back already to buy potions? Did you fought boss monster or something?
"What are you talking about? A few hours already passed." – replied Hype.
"Wait what?!" – said Forge.
Forge quickly checked the current time.
"Oh my god. You are right. I never noticed that."
"Just how much you were absorbed into the work that you didn't noticed hours passing? By the way, we are already level 27 right now."
"Anyway, now that you have the blade, what now? Will you make a sword using it?" – asked Kitty.
"Pretty much yea. I have already pretty much everything else prepared. So, I have now just have to assemble it."
Forge beginned assembling the parts one by one until the sword was finally completed.
[Copper Sword]
[A sword made using copper with a wooden grip.]
[Attack Power: 20-22]
[Restrictions: Minimal User Level 13.]
[Item Tier: 3]
"Okay, it's done, here." – said Forge while handing over the sword to Hype.
"…. Forge."
"Yea?"
"You may want to hear what I'm about to say." – said Hype with serious voice.
"Some weapons, have a restrictions on them, one or more. Most of the times they are level restrictions. They first appear on items with usually level restriction 10 at the beginning of the game and it's get higher when games progress and you find more power weapons with higher restrictions like level 30 or more."
"Yes? You already told me that before when we were buying new equipment for hunting."
"Okay, then listen to the next part. Weapons that normally people between level 1-10 uses weapons with attack power 10. People with level 11-20 uses weapon with attack power ranging from 11- 20. Your weapon right now [Beginner Two Handed Mallet] have attack 18-20, right?"
"Hm? Wait but- "
"Now take a look at my sword that I'm using and the sword you made." - said Hype while handing over both swords to Forge.
[Copper Sword]
[A sword made using copper with a wooden grip.]
[Attack Power: 20-22]
[Restrictions: Minimal User Level 13.]
[Item Tier: 3]
[Reinforced Beginner Sword]
[An upgraded version of the basic beginner sword.]
[Attack Power: 16-18]
[Restrictions: Minimal User Level 11.]
[Item Tier: 1]
"But it's only few attack points higher that- "
"Yes! It's few points higher, but in the beginning of the game, where everybody still has low hp and everything, every point in attack counts and on top of that your weapon have higher durability than beginner or reinforced beginner weapons."
"To make things more serious, you can only buy and use a proper weapons once you reach level 30, meaning until then you are stuck with beginner and reinforced beginner weapons! Sometimes monster may drop an item like a weapon that may have attack power of 19-21 or something similar, but it's not really that high of the chance unless it's from the dungeon, treasure chest, boss or event."
"…. Take it." – said Forge after listening to Hype explanation and with bit of thinking.
"Wait, are you sure about- "
"Yea, yea I'm sure about that. You bastards even gave me your money to help get started and even helped me level up. Take it and I don't take no."
"Ekem." – said Kitty.
"?"
"I helped you too you know so-"
"I will make you a dagger, you normally use two, right? So do you want me to make to make two daggers?"
"Nah, you don't need to make a daggers for her. I think you will waste- "
"Hiss!" – Kitty hissed and moment later she jumped at Hype head.
"Help! Get her off me! Leave my eyes alone you"
(Why one moment they cooperate without a problem, but other times they try to murder each other. They do that as well in real life.)
(Well, I'm glad he liked the sword, but…. Why I can't still shake off the feeling that I'm missing something. That I'm doing this complete wrong.)
"STOP STARING INTO A FURNACE AND HELP ME GET HER OFF ME!"
