Chapter 6 – Experimenting.

After finally coming to the understanding with my failed reasoning and understanding what needs to be done, I decided to start looking at things from the start.

First the question that dwelled in my mind:

"What influences the item performance?"

I kept one of the failures blades I made for the sword and use it to create the sword.

[Badly Made Copper Sword]

[Attack Power: 16-18]

[Restrictions: Minimal User Level 11.]

[Item Tier: 1]

Pretty much if you compare this to the normal one, you can easily tell that it's noticeable weaker based on its performance. You can also pretty much see with naked eye the difference in appearance for both weapons.

Then I thought something after looking at the two blades.

"What does exactly influences the weapon attack power?"

The hammer, the sharp stick and sword I made were different type of weapons.

Sharp sticks stabs.

Hammer smashes.

Sword slashes and can stab as well.

I may or may not get idea right now, but maybe the attack power of the item, depends on the item offensive capabilities?

If that is the case what are the factors that influences it? I need to test some things out if I want to find it.

(I know this world has some similarities to the normal world, but what exactly similar? What is the same and what is the different? To find it out I need to do tests.)

First test:

I noticed sometimes Hype using the sword hilt to attack enemy, so I wanted to test things out. Out of curiosity I asked him if that even does any damage and apparently it does.

With that information in mind I went to the training ground with the sword and used it on the dummy there.

[Dummy – Level 1]

I first hit the dummy multiple times with the sword blade and then I hit it with sword hilt.

The attack with sword left deal slashing type damage with the sword average damage.

The attack using hilt deal blunt type damage and surprisingly, it deal 2 damage. Honestly speaking, I was expecting it to deal less damage. Next, I hit the target with the guard, it also damage to the dummy.

With this information and went and tested something. I made another copper sword, but this time with replaceable hilt that allowed me to add small spike on the hilt that can be used to stabbing.

[Attack Power: 21-23]

"?!"

The attack power of the weapon increased, only by 1, but what matters it increased. I wasn't expecting that. I went again to the training ground and tested it out. Blade, hilt and the guard attacks.

The average damage dealt increased from all those attack and the attack from the hilt are now dealing 4 damage instead, also the attack from it now stabs.

What would happened if I change the shape of the guard? Or what would the effects be if I change the sword shape and maybe add some additional blades or spikes to it?

With the knowledge I just got I decided to do different type and similar types of experiments. I also went and tested few things with monsters materials for my other test.

"Hey Forge! Dude, you can't spend the entire day again locked in forge again! Why the heck you run off to forge again? Stop doing-"

"Hm?"

[Copper Sword With Absurd Amount Of Spikes And Additional Blades]

[What in the bloody hell is this abomination?]

"What….What the hell is that thing?" – asked Hype.

"Oh, that? An experiment."

"Anyway, can you tell if this is useful?."

[Great Copper Sword]

(Wait, a great sword and it has resection of level 20 only?! You can only get great swords once you hit level 30. To make things even more surprisingly it's have rank 5?!)

(From NPC you can buy [Standard Great Sword] with level restriction of 30 and attack power of [Attack Power: 42-44]. This thing attack power is close the great sword you can buy from the NPC.)

"How the heck did you-"

"It's a just a big sword. Few changes there and there besides changing the size of the blade and done."

"Oh."

"Anyway, I'm going to stay in the forge for a bit, so you have to hunt without me."

"But dude. Aren't you broke right now?"

"Ah."

"You spend all your money on the materials recently and there is limit how much we can give you anyway, so stop acting like bad ass character and get your ass here. My sis is already waiting for you so let's go."

(He is right. I have no money left. When the heck did I spend it all?! )

(I think I need to manage my money from now on.)

"I can't argue with this fact. So let's go hunting."

"Oh right. Those sharp sticks are pretty much useless right now, so take those instead.)

[Horned Rabbit Spear] X5

[An spear that has the tip replaces with horned rabbit horn. The spear is quiet small and light, meaning the spear can be used as throwable weapon.]

[Attack Power: 15-17]

[Restrictions: Minimal User Level 13.]

[Item Tier: 3]

"I've made 20 of those. 5 for you and 5 for Kitty for free. At first, I wanted to test out what would happened if I make weapon using those horns, but after seeing the results, I decide to make few more"

"Huh. Ok, stop delaying it any longer and lets go."

Moments later at the south gate.

"Sorry." – said Forge the Kitty.

"You spend all of your money that you received from us, the money from hunting monsters and the money that you got for free when you started playing in just 2 days?! how the bloody hell you manage that?"

"No excuse and this isn't the first time I will probably go broke because of the same reason."

"The fuck do you mean by that you punk?!" – said angry Kitty.

"Wait, wait, wait! Hear me out first!"

Forge explained everything to the Kitty and Hype. Explaining his discovery and him conducting experiments.

"Hm…What are you saying both does makes sense and don't." – said Kitty.

"I know right. But here take a look at this sword."

"Isn't that just a normal copper sword? Wait, why its attack higher that a normal one."

"Look at the hilt."

"There is an spike here."

"Yea. Also when you attack using this hilt, the damage will higher that when using normal hilt. I also made an hilt of that blade swapped so I tried, this allowed to me to test out some things without needing to create additional swords."

"I tried making hook, blade and cube shaped one that can deal blunt damage. Pretty much they all resulted in item attack power increase. After that I experiment a bit and there and this resulted in this."

[Copper Sword With Absurd Amount Of Spikes And Additional Blades]

[Please I beg you. Put it out of its misery.]

"The heck is that?" – asked Kitty.

"I-I wanted to see what would happened if add more blades and spikes and I ended up with this. Honestly speaking it's not even usable, I tried using it on dummy, the bonus blades on the sides bended over and the spikes on top of the blade so that I couldn't slash though it, pretty much its way worse that even the badly maid copper sword."

"Well it's quiet obvious considering how it looks." – said Hype.

"So with that being said, can we start going to the higher level areas now?"

"Em, are you sure? You are still beginner." – said Hype.

"Yea, I need to go to the higher areas not only to earn more money, but for the materials from the monsters."

"I get the money part, but why monsters materials?" – said Hype.

"You bloody idiot, spear, the spear is made using horned rabbit horn, an material from the monster."

"Yea and because of that I want to collect monsters materials. I confirmed that you can made item from the materials from monsters. But the real reason why I made those spears was something completely different."

"?"

"Like I said before, I need to understand what influences item performance. There are two tests I'm currently running."

The first test - offensive capabilities.

I still have some test to do with it, but I still got some nice data from it. I manage to confirmed that weapon attack power can be influenced by not only the main part of the weapon.

The second test – Material Influence.

I want to see if the material used for crafting influences item performance.

"Here, take a look."

[Horned Rabbit Leather Chest Armor]

[An chest armor that was made using leather from the horned Rabbit.]

[+8 [Physical Defense].]

[Restrictions: Minimal User Level 11.]

[Item Rank: 4]

"It's way better that an armor made from common leather like from evil bunnies. This confirmed particle confirmed that using higher grade material can make item stronger, even if I used the same method of crafting like I did with normal leather chest armor."

"Buy why only particle?" – asked Kitty.

"Because I still don't have enough data. I don't know what kind of materials exists in this world in the first place. So to complete my research, I need different type of materials from monsters and maybe find out if there are anything like specials ores or something. Maybe things like mithril from fantasies exists here."

"Hm... that does makes sense. But won't that be problematic with your item crafting time? On top of that you have production classes and you understand that they are no good in battles."

"I know, that. That's why I will need to focus not only on production type classes, but combat type classes as well. However not being purely focus on combat classes will probably affect my usefulness in combat."

"That leaves one option for me. Items."

"So you will fill the spot with the items. That may work. However will it truly works?" – asked Kitty

"We will have to wait and see."

"Anyway, let's go. We already wasted enough of time because of me."
