Post-Mortem

Woo, it's finished!

Hey, this isn't the last chapter. It's me, the writer, discussing my own work.

So, if you're reading this, I'm assuming you've read the entirety of the book. And if that's the case, thanks! Truly, means a ton you read and (presumably) liked it. Unless you read it to mock on your YT channel, in which case I hope you don't go too hard on it. But this is just me typing about my work in comparison to my other two pieces and looking back on where I went wrong or right.

First off, this was my first attempt at writing an actual fantasy world. Destiny Destroyers was just our world with some magic dudes and demons in it and Criminal 20 took place in one abandoned city block. And overall I think I did okay? I know of the ten worlds, Gurut, ShiShi, Roperia, and Bestemia didn't get any real focus besides some characters being from there. To be honest, I just come up with concepts in broad strokes and think about how things can come together later. But I do think I did a decent job of making each grand I did show off distinct enough. Saoloro had the tree with all fruit in it, Inariu was a constantly on industrial district, and Sangaria was a relaxed place focused on medicine. Might be considered basic, but I had a lot of fun thinking up the locations.

And next up, the characters. And truth be told…I wrote way too many. I thought the idea of individual hero teams would be a good idea, and I think it was for groups like the Battlestorms, but then I had groups like the Lumps where I had no clue what to do with them. Not to mention Zee and Gisella both being 'strong silent counterpoint to their goofier leaders.' who served more or less the same purpose. Also the Legion. Now, I do like the idea of the Legion, that being a bunch of scared kids being forced to adapt to a constant fear machine and fight what they grew up with and a bunch eventually rise through the ranks. But I feel that I could have done more to flesh out the top ten, stuff like dynamics between them to make them feel like a unit clinging to each other to make some sense out of this world, kinda like what Xander and Tsuki were. (And Priyanka but I kind of forgot to put her in the finale, whoops) and remembers Adrianne? Because I didn't! But anyway, they were a nice villain team, and the Xander focused chapters were my favourite to write. And I do think my main characters and some of my side characters like Fiorella and Capri were cool.

But in conclusion, this was a pretty good learning experience about writing wide fantasy worlds as opposed to smaller scale stories. Granted, I'm going back to writing something that takes place within one city so IDK. Hope you enjoyed this, and enjoy my next book whenever it comes out.
