68. Farewell

"I'm alive," Josh thought when his eyes snapped open. 

The last thing he remembered was falling into what he assumed was the solid earth. He saw total darkness and then he woke up. The bland white ceiling hanging above him let him know he was back in his makeshift cell. He started to sit up, but a familiar voice stopped him.

"Don't move. The moment they know you're awake, they plan on chaining you up again," the feminine voice warned him. 

Josh stopped moving and relaxed. He closed his eyes and did his best to look asleep. 

"Good, now you have to be patient and follow my instructions so we can get you out of this building alive,"

Josh heard what she was saying, but he had no reason to trust whoever this person was. He had led his own fair share of people astray by posing as a helpful female. 

"Who are you and why should I trust you?" he thought.

"The answer to both questions is, I'm your ticket to freedom."
