77. The trip

"So, can you really afford all of this?" Rayne asked Albert as they stood at the entrance to the university and waited for the others to arrive.

The four of them were about to go to a movie and then have dinner. Albert was footing the bill for the entire evening.

"Oh yeah, I got too much money. My mom cashed in every chance she got when I was growin up and she made sure to put a part of it away for me," Albert said with a shrug.

Rayne stared at him, trying to decide whether to console him or dap him up. Luckily, Elliot and Sheree arrived before things got awkward.

"I just want you to know I'm only this excited because I'm happy for you. Not at all because this is the first time I've celebrated a birthday," Sheree said and hugged Rayne.

Rayne smiled at her and returned the hug. Sheree and Elliot were wearing their training outfits. While Sheree looked good in anything, Rayne wished she had something nicer to wear while they were out.
