"This visit is unnecessary and dangerous," the female voice said in Josh's head as he snuck up behind the security officer.
He crept slowly through the main corridor of the medical facility. His stealth ability made him impossible to see, but he wasn't taking any chances.
"Your stupid plan is going to get me killed. So I might as well spend my last night alive by her side?" He thought back as he silently slipped the key ring free from the officer's belt.
With the keys in his possession, he went to the room Mariah was being held in. He looked through the tiny rectangular glass window at her. Her chest rising and falling rhythmically as she slept soundly.
"Okay, now that you have seen her, it is time to leave," the female voice warned.
Josh ignored her as anger boiled up inside of him. His jaw tightened as he looked in at her.
