A Vision of Solace

Wanda: Welcome back.

I woke up, lying on the grass, fire in front of me. I sat up and saw Wanda at the other side of the fire.

"What happened?"

Wanda: You got out of control, I had to knock you out before you did more... well... damage.

Wanda nodded her head to show her Westview home, destroyed.

"I'm sorry."

Wanda: It's fine... I got all I needed.

I looked at Wanda, to see her holding a photograph. A family photograph.

"You had a family?"

Wanda smiled.

Wanda: Had.

"What happened to them?"

Wanda gave me a look.

"I'm sorry."

I sat, looking at the fire.

Wanda: I was happy once... me and Viz.

"Viz?"

Wanda: Vision... my husband.

Wanda used her powers to send the photo flying to me. I looked at the family photo, a family of four. The husband, an android, Vision.

Wanda: We had twins. Billy and Tommy... they were my everything.

"Then what happened to them?"

Wanda smiled weakly.

Wanda: You see the gem on Viz's head? It it the mind stone, one of the six Infinity Stones. Some time ago, a Mad Titan tried to get all stones... we tried to stop him but...

Wanda didn't need to finish for me to know what happened.

He died.

"And the twins?"

Wanda smiled weakly. They were gone.

I looked at the photograph.

"I lost my parents when I was a kid... I might lose my brother, I'm not sure. Makes me wonder you know... Lia went on this, alone... you lost your family... and the Scarlet Wi-..."

I stopped... and thought.

"It makes me wonder, us Wanda's... all we seem to do is lose... we just keep losing people close to us... people we love... what if that is who we are in this multiverse, what if this is all we do... lose?"

I don't know why but as I said that, I felt tears start to get out of my eye and trickle down my face. I tried to fight it back as I did for as long as I remember, but now, I couldn't. I couldn't fight it. Wanda stood up and sat beside me as I cried.

I couldn't hear what Wanda was saying, I was crying so much. I was crying all the tears I've been suppressing and fighting in for so long.

Wanda: Wanda, it's alright. It's alright.

Wanda started stroking my head when suddenly, a felt something. It felt as though something stabbed me. My body stiffened and suddenly, the world around me disappeared. I looked around to see... darkness... and I heard a voice.

Lia: WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?

Scarlet Witch: In the multiverse... I can find them... I can make life... better... for me.

Wanda: Wanda, Wanda! WANDA!

Suddenly, I was pulled away from the vision and back into the real world.

Wanda: Wanda... what's wrong?

I looked at Wanda, scared.

"It's Lia... I gotta save her."
