First evolution, levelling up!(1.5 Chapter)

Roland was brought out of the mansion to the side, quite some distance away was another building. The building was made of wood and was three-story's high, it was dilapidated but kept clean. This was hostel that the maids and servants shared.

'Ignis Ignis Ignis'

It was already dark out and the star's were already out. Roland faintly heard them calling his name, but he couldn't respond because he wasn't alone.

"Roland was your name right?" Butler Francis who was walking in front turned back to ask.

Seeing the 'young boy' nod he continued, "There's no need to be scared. I'm not going to lie to you, but your currently in a horrible situation. In fact there's many others like you *sigh*." Butler Francis thought of something and shook his head.

"There's currently two options you have now! Option one, fully commite to this job, if you do this you'll have less problems in the future, and there might even be benefits for you.' Roland could hear the care in Butler Francis voice.

"Option two, resist. If you do this, you'll face a lot of challenges, life threatening challenges. And in the end you'll realise that it's nigh impossible for you to get out of here."

Butler Francis turned and looked at Roland, "I'll tell you this, there's been countless others like you, and they all chose the second option. Whether it's running away, negotiation or taking drastic actions, they all failed. A lot of young people have passed."

Roland looked at Francis, a pained expression quickly flashed on his face. 

'Seems like this old man has seen a lot of things and is giving me some advice.' Roland understood and nodded. 

Butler Francis nodded and continued walking, "It's Good that understand. Now, since you'll be a personal servant of the family, I'll help you understand a few things, there's not much time, so try and remember everything that I say."

Butler Francis quickly told Roland the do's and don'ts of being a servant. They quickly arrived at the reception desk. 

"Emily, this here is Roland, he'll be Madam Ruby's personal servant from now on. Roland, this is Emily, and she's in charge of this here hostel." Francis introduced patiently. 

Emily got up and bowed from behind the desk, "Welcome to our little family, Roland."

"Likewise, I will be in your care." Roland responded with a bow.

"Emily please prepare the corresponding room" Butler Francis nodded and led Roland away.

They left the reception hall and appeared outside again. Behind the hostil, was another smaller building, it was the size of the house. This was a bathhouse.

The interior style of the bathhouse reminded Roland of the Greeks, from his previous world. 

A large pool of water was situated in the middle of the room. Pillars around the pool, connected to the ceiling. There was a few people bathing. 

Roland couldn't help but frown, 'There's absolutely no privacy here! Also Why is the water dirty?'

As if reading his mind, butler Francis said, "The water here gets changed at midnight, so if you want clean water, you have to wake up early." 

Roland nodded slowly'Is it to encourage people to wake up early? I suddenly miss my little shower."

"Here use this, quickly take a bath and I'll prepare your clothes." Butler Francis gave Roland a towel before he left. 

'This towel is wet! Take a bath?' Roland suddenly felt dejected, the dirty water didn't look the least bit inviting.

He looked around at the few people some distance away minding their own businesses.

Roland suddenly remembered a post on his previous world. The post asked if it was worth going to a magical world where technology was backwards. Roland ferociously jumped onto the keyboard and responded, it was definitely worth it. Only because of magic, there were many others who opposed his thoughts but he firmly responded every time with one sentence; "but there's magic."

He garnered a lot of support, but now, facing the pungent smell, invading his nostrils. He wouldn't mind betraying his 'supporters'.

'The dirts only at the top right?' He placed his hand in the water and tried moving away the dirty water but the water didn't loss it's greenish-brown colour. 'The waters is also cold to the touch!'

Roland found a hidden spot, mustered the courage and of his clothes and took a bath. He was self concious about others seeing him naked. 

A few minutes later, Butler Francis returned with clothes in his hand. 

"Your done already?" Butler Francis looked at Roland who was wearing the dirty oversized sailor uniform, "Here this should be your size." 

Seeing him nod, Butler Francise nodded and gave Roland some clothes, "Those clothes are torn and dirty, If you want new clothes your going to have to work for them." 

"Quickly change clothes, tomorrow morning I'll take you to the young lady. When your done go to the reception desk and get to your room, and get some rest. Dinner times almost over so I'll get going."

Following that butler's Francis walked out of the room. Roland again, found a hidden spot and changed his clothes. He threw away the clothes and returned to the reception hall.

"Roland right? here's your key. Your room should be on the second floor. Remember to leave your key by me before leaving." Emily spoke enthusiastically, with a smile on here face.

Roland wondered if she was like this due to her personality or if she was like this due to here job, regardless, he thanked her and was on his way.

He quickly found his room based on the numbers. It was the same size as his previous 'room' at the prison, but there was a proper-looking bed and a 'window'.

Roland laid in bed and recalled what transpired today,' A lot of things happened today, but my goal hasn't changed. The First thing I need to do is get stronger.'

Coming to these thoughts, Roland closed his eyes, his mind shifted and his conciousness moved. He opened his eyes and found himself sitting on the large throne.

His mind shifted and a transparent window appeared.

What surprised Roland was the experience value, the last time he saw it, he remembers it being zero percent but now it was a hundred. 

Roland thought about it, a lot of things happened since he last checked there, but the only thing he could think of was the pond he went to; the pond of Styx. 

Another window suddenly popped up in front of that one. 

[Enough experience value has been accumulated, Proceed with first evolution?] 

Roland didn't know what that meant but he accepted.

*bang*

Suddenly there was an explosion in the outside sky, chaotic dark clouds that were everywhere in the sky, parted way, revealing a single star in the sky.

Roland only felt the whole temple trembling slightly before returning to normal. He didn't know what happened but he noticed that the interior of the temple slowly started to shrink.

He quickly ran out of the temple, worried that he'd get squished.

By the time he ran out of the temple, it had stopped shrinking and was currently the size of a large house. After returning to 'normal' size, the temple seemed to change. The previously broken and cracked walls had repaired themselves and turned into a brown wooden color. Roland touched It and realised that it was wood.

Not only that, but the material seemed to change. The dark walls of the temple were decorated with a gold design making everything stand out. The statures by the door had mysterious disappeared.

In the sky was a ball of 'light' in the sky. Unlike the normal ball Roland was use to, this one had many color that mixed in together. Silver, grey and purple, these colors mixed in together to produce a Black light that 'shown' everywhere.

'Is that a type of sun?' Roland was surprised by this discovery to say the least, he couldn't wrap his head around his head. He had many speculations brewing in his mind but he pushed them aside.

Roland looked around the new space, because of the 'light' he saw everything. The huge statures that were here, were all gone, even the mountain behind the temple had disappeared. The square had turned into an empty 'flate' plaza. 

In addition to the temple at the front, there was a few other buildings around the square. The buildings were covered in black smoke and Roland couldn't see through them, he could only vaguely guess their shapes based on their outlines.

When he tried walking towards one building, he received a notification.

[500 Fabric substance required to unlock this function, would you like to unlock?]

The previous mechanic voice sounded less rebortic and more coherent, it sounded like crappy modern day ai from Roland's previous life.

That was the only information Roland received.

'Function?'

In the name of science and research, Roland paid the value required. The dark clouds quickly parted ways, revealing a large house. Just like the temple it was made of wood, gold designs made it come alive and outline the details.

A window suddenly appeared in front of Roland.

[New warehouse function acquired, can store outside objects in the system]

Roland's eyes shot open, he was jubilated,'this is like the inventory!'

Roland couldn't contain his excitement, he closed his eyes, his mind shiftd and his conciousness moved. He opened his eyes and returned to his room.

He picked up a pillow and focused on it, and it disappeared. Surprised he closed his eyes and returned to the system. He appeared in front of the warehouse and opened the door. 

The lights flashed opened and a pillow was silently sitting under the spotlight.

"Hahaha, with this, I don't have to worry about carrying heavy things anymore." Roland couldn't help laughing out historically like a mad person. If the pillow was alive it would shiver in fright.

Roland's focused on the pillow and it disappeared from the warehouse. After pistoning the pillow in and out of the warehouse, he left the warehouse and came to the second building covered in smoke.

'I wonder what I'll get next time! Will I get the legendary weapons shop with legendary equipment? Or will it be the legendary potion shop where I can drink unlimited amounts of free potions!' Roland rubbed his hands like a corrupt businessman, the more he thought about it the quicker he moved towards the next building.

Roland suddenly froze, 'This is undoubtedly expensive but for the sake of legendary potions and legendary equipment, it's a small price to pay for power.'

As soon as he accepted, the black gas cleared, and Roland was shocked. The previous outlines of the 'building' had cleared as well, revealing an empty open space. 

The space wasn't completely empty as there was a small patch of sand and a circle in the middle.

'Did the black fog take the building? Mother f-! What is this! Where's are my legendary weapons, or the legendary potions!' Roland was infuriated, 'Is this system cheating me? What's going on?'

[New training grounds function acquired, can train in the system to improve your strength and add 'rules']

'1000 fabric substance for some sand and a circle! Why would I train here for when I can train outside!' Roland looked at the 'training ground' with undisguised anger and hatred. He didn't understand why it costed more then the warehouse when it was so 'useless'.

He didn't want to deal with it now, so he quickly moved to the next building. As soon as he arrived in front of the building he got a different notification.

[Insufficient evolution to unlock this function.]

Roland was undoubtedly surprised, 'Evolution? Is this like my strength? I remember it talking about my 'first evolution' , does that mean I can only unlock a certain amount of 'functions' per evolution?'

Roland quickly moved to the other buildings and he got the same notification. 

*sigh* 

'If that's the case I'll go to the pond again and increase the experience value.' As soon as Roland thought of that pond again, a red arrow appeared by his feet, and a strong feeling in his heart arose, and he became eager to follow it. 

Roland resisted the urge and stopped himself, unlike last time the feeling wasn't that strong. He moved his feet around but the arrow kept pointing in the same direction, 'Is it showing me the way again?'

He followed the arrow and after a long walk, he arrived back in that forest. With the 'light' from the 'sun', Roland saw that the trees were actually dark and had white leaves.

He activated [Keen intuition] and the corresponding information occurred.

Roland quickly noticed something, the range of [Keen intuition] had improved, now he saw more notifications from more trees.

'Did the skill improve with the evolution?' Roland pondered as he arrived in front of the pond.

Roland was surprised by the additional information. 'Wait has little effect?'

Roland quickly jumped in the lake, but nothing happened. He moved around but his body remained motionless. The previous feeling of being in 'quicksand' wasn't apparent anymore.

'I guess it doesn't have the same effect.' Roland thought as he got out of the water. 

'I'm lazy to go back to the temple now. I've wasted enough time as it Is.' Roland closed his eyes and appeared back on the bed. 'Wonder what tomorrow has in store for me.
