The end

Priscilla's point of view

The day went by quickly, and it was already evening. I had made all the arrangements for everything I needed to deal with Uncle Dave and Nelly.

Delaying things might make them outsmart me, something I didn't want; all I wanted to do now was to outmaneuver them and close their chapter once and for all. I gently rose from the bed, making sure not to wake Max, as I didn't want him to suspect anything.

I tiptoed to the closet, changed my clothes without making any noise, and took the bag with my things. I wrapped my fingers around the doorknob, turned it quickly, and yanked the door open, walking out of the room.

As I walked down the stairs, I saw Liz's back facing me. A smirk tucked at my lips as I reached where she was. None of us uttered a word as we silently left the house.
