chapter 26 chaos pt 1

Getting up early, I sneakily put on my leather armor not wanting to wake Apael up. I gently kissed her on the forehead before leaving our room. Lexi said I just had to use the key on any door, and it would open up a portal. Putting the key into the door, I turned it before opening it and going through.

My vision spiraled, and it felt like my body was spinning. After what felt like ages I finally stood on solid ground. As I looked around, everything seemed normal but felt wrong as well. Spending a few hours I found the general layout of my surroundings. There was a river nearby so I decided to head there first. As I got closer to the water I noticed there was a small creature heading that way.

It looked like a simple rabbit so I watched to determine if the water was safe. As it approached the water it hopped in. The water seemed to stick to the rabbit. Like flames, you could smell the burning of the fur but the water still looked cool and refreshing. The rabbit jumped out of the river bald and smooth. It shot a water bullet towards a tree as if to test its ability.

The tree slowly got absorbed by the water leaving nothing but ash. Feeling shocked I waited for the rabbit to leave completely. Closing in I focused on the elements around the water trying to comprehend how the elements felt. The mana felt comfortable as if I refined it by my mana core inside my body. "Hey Lexi why does this mana feel like I refined it?"

[That is easy Mommy! It is because you technically do not have a mana core. It is a chaos core. You absorb the elements and you turn them chaotic by instinct. So this chaos realm is here to help you understand the chaos inside of you to better use the element!]

It seemed simple enough so I sat there absorbing the water elements nearby. As I continued to absorb it I dissected it trying to look for what was considered chaotic in it. If I could figure that out I could possibly remove that aspect from when I cast a spell to make a normal attack that was even more unpredictable.

I spent a week eating vegetation too worried to try and hunt the monsters in the area until I could figure out what was making the water element chaotic. Lexi would not tell me more since I needed to comprehend it myself to use it effectively.

Letting out a sigh I decided to venture to the mountains to look for a fire source to have something else to compare to. Finding a cave system that was somewhat illuminated I went in trying to find the source. I found a small lava pool and I decided to test the theory that it acted more like water so I gently put my hand in.

Gasping in shock it was obviously more like water with no true heat more like a slight warmness. What truly shocked me was the elements in the air. They were the same as by the river. Same with the ambient mana as I traveled. The only spell I used once was water bullet but I did it on instinct not on my own.

Even when training my mana I just would empty my core and absorb what I could not paying attention to the feeling. Deciding to get undressed and get into the lava water to feel the mana more closely. Looking into my core as I absorbed the mana I noticed it was stripped of any sort of semblance of an element. It was purple in color as if that was the most natural. Taking a deep breath I summoned a water bullet but instead of shooting it off, I decided to inspect it closer.

Looking at the mana inside of the spell I saw the purple mana forming a wave giving off a blue hue to confuse the outside world. Shooting off the bullet I noticed the water got heated by the chaos causing it to turn the water into a flame. My eyes lit up as it sort of started to make sense.

As my third month approached I comprehended most of the basics of chaos. The best way to think of it was as an illusion. If I commanded it to be a "water" bullet it would look like water but I could change the properties. Instinctively I was changing it into heat based to burn things. But I could do the same for any element. I could make it look like I am throwing a rock spell and if they went to grab it they could be burned by fire or even cut by an air blade.

Giggling in glee I felt like I was getting closer to figuring out the true meaning of chaos. Getting tired of just studying the element I decided to go out and hunt some smaller animals.

To be honest, hunting small animals was kind of boring. It was funny how I was afraid of them and how over-cautious I was. As I cooked up some meat to eat after months of berries and vegetation I had a good idea.

If chaos was also trying to hide as an illusion could I see through it if I sent the mana to my eyes? Taking a deep breath I started to gather the mana into my eyes. It was excruciating but I kept on trying to infuse my eyes with more.

I let out a shout and opened my eyes. If I could see them in a mirror they started to glow amethyst. They would look like a perfect gem that would make people get lost with a single glance. As I looked around the whole landscape changed.

It was no longer a lush forest and mountains that I was used to. The water turned into flames the grass turning black as if it had been dead for ages. Looking at the plants I used to eat made my stomach churn. It looked like rotten fruit that was decaying. Wanting to vomit I looked into the distance.

I saw a giant beacon shooting into the sky. It felt like something was beckoning me to go towards it so I started my journey forward. Looking around as I followed the path I saw the small creatures I was hunting before. Their fur was pitch black and moving as if it was a shadow. They looked like they were rabbits but almost as if they were shadow monsters.

Their eyes never left me sending chills down my spine. I approached one of them and it just stared at me without moving. I stopped sending mana to my eyes for a moment and as I continued looking at the rabbit it looked as if it was distracted looking into the distance.

Sending mana back into my eyes the creature was still staring straight into my eyes. I reached out to pick it up grabbing a dagger to pierce it in the neck. As the dagger approached it did not even flinch as I stabbed it. There was no blood or anything. It just blinked at me with dark eyes.

Shivering I decided to take a bite to see what would happen. As I took a bite I tasted delicious cooked rabbit but it did not actually lose flesh in how I thought it would. Slowly it was being absorbed into my body and flowing into my core.

These creatures were made of pure chaos and I had been absorbing them for awhile. But why were they letting me do such a thing? Shaking my head I focused on getting to the beacon. Hopefully, I will find my answers there.

"Lexi can you show me my status since I got here please?"

[Of course Mommy here you go.]
