" Hey dude " Tommy greeted as he entered the living room, The maids were already hurrying to get his luggage. Tommy packed like a woman, he could carry 3 boxes for just a two-day trip.
He didn't call me earlier that he was coming but then again that was Tommy, He felt it wouldn't be a surprise when he told me beforehand that he would be coming.
" Hey Tom, How was your trip? " I asked as he came to sit next to me
" Was good, I missed you bruh?" He said as we shook hands.
" How about Sofia, is she doing okay? " I asked wearily
" She's good, imaging how she would react if she finds out you got married is hilarious. " Tommy chuckled.
" It's Asher who is married," I replied quietly. " It is unavoidable, I have to fulfil the promise I made."
" Do you have to? " Tommy had never liked the idea of me marrying Sofia even though she was his half-sister.
" I have to Tommy," I replied frustrated.
" Where is she? " He asked looking around, he just wanted to avoid the topic.
" Where is who? " I asked him though I already knew he was talking about Melissa. I kept no secret from Tommy, we were each other's support.
" It's already 6 pm I thought I'd get to see her already." He continued like he hadn't heard my question at all, ghat was so Tommy. He was an extrovert who could easily engage in a discussion with anyone, I was completely sure he would have no issue befriending her.
" She goes to her coffee shop after school every day except Sundays " I explained.
" Wow... she owns a coffee shop? That's impressive, I thought she would be a spoilt rich brat. " He said smiling.
" Nah, she's nothing of that sort you wouldn't even know her family is rich. " Comparing her father's wealth to mine would probably be like Comparing a village to a city but still she wouldn't lack anything or even need to work, I smiled fondly remembering how she ran around in her coffee shop serving her customers, other girls whose father was that well to do wouldn't do that.
" I can't wait to meet her, where's Nancy bro? " I asked, Nancy and Tommy had become friends since they met each other. While Nancy crushed on Tommy, Tommy only thought of her as a friend.
Everyone saw Tommy as a womaniser but the truth was that he wasn't as bad as people thought him to be.
" She should be in the kitchen. " I told him picking up my laptop and placing it on my lap, I had to finish up everything on my mail before Lisa got home. It was so unbearably annoying using glasses but I had to do that when Melissa was around.
My mind drifted to the other day she came back late, how she stared at me, the look in her eyes. It took everything I had not to walk to her and kiss her right there.
I closed my eyes as memories of her flooded my mind, her smile, her eyes. Her eyes held me captive when I stared at them, I felt like she could see through me. Had tried to avoid her as much as I could, My heart was yearning for her so desperately but I couldn't give in, not if I wanted my revenge. I couldn't let the man who helped in the murder of my parent go free, even if it meant being in pain and yearning.
' How did this happen? How did I fall so madly in love with my enemy's daughter? How could I ever tell her I was using her for revenge against her father? Would she ever love me? ' I thought again and again. I thought if I stayed away from her the feeling would become bearable but it wasn't working, the more I stayed away from her the more I wanted to see her.
Tommy came out of the kitchen some minutes later with two glasses of juice and cakes, Tommy liked cakes a lot and made sure I ate some too.
Melissa came in a few hours later, Tommy and I were in the dining room waiting for Nancy to dish the meal.
Tommy had insisted we wait for Melissa but I had told him she may hang out with her friends so he gave in when I told him we should you ahead without her. The truth was I just wanted to finish up and head to my room before she came back but that would be close to impossible with Tommy around.
I saw her walk in first and suddenly couldn't hear anything Tommy was saying anymore, he noticed the change and stopped laughing then turned around to follow my gaze.
"Hello, Mr Kelvin" She greeted.
" Hi," I simply replied, trying to stop my heart from beating fast.
' How would just the sight of her be making my heart pound like this?' It was frustrating the hell out of me.
" Hey Lisa, heard a lot about you, Come and have dinner" Tommy invited giving her one of his smiles. She stared at Tommy, I bet she was trying to make up her mind on whether or not to join us. Just when I thought she would decline she walked over and sat down.
' Did she recognise Tommy? Was that why she sat? ' She stared at Tommy again.
She kept staring at Tommy and I felt a sting of jealousy hit me.
" Hey, I Am Tommy, Nice to meet you," Tommy said facing her with that cheerful tune of his, sometimes I just wish I could be as cheerful as he was.
" Hi " She greeted back looking away from me and Tommy, I wished it was me she stared at but she would even glance at me.
' Well, what were you expecting? Just because she stared into your eyes, you think she would just loosen up? '
" Welcome back ma'am, How was your day?" she asked as she came into the dining room. Melissa's face lightened up the moment Nancy entered the room, I liked the fact that she and Nancy had become friends. Nancy was like a younger sister to me, I didn't just consider my maid.
" Thank you, Nancy, I had a good day." She replied with a smile, I watched every action she made, and everything about her interested me.
She looked at Nancy, nodded in Tommy's direction and winked, in response Nancy grinned. I couldn't help but smile at their silent conversation.
" That's not nice you know," Tommy told her.
" Did I do something wrong?" The look of confusion she had on her face was cute.
" Of course, you did something wrong," Tommy answered, I could tell he wanted to tease from the expression on his face.
" But what did I do?" Her voice had a little guilt in it.
' Did she think Tommy saw her silent conversation with Nancy? '
" I told you my name but you didn't tell me yours. " Tommy told her, I knew he was teasing her, he knew her name already.
" What!?" Lisa said surprised.
"Tsk, you didn't tell me your name, that's what am saying, I told you my name remember? So it's only right you tell me yours Or would you rather I called you Mrs Kelvin?" Tommy asked.
